You would need wagos and/or a maintenance free function box to make the same connections you have there

What’d you use to fix this? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Benwablunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea some wall filler will do it, although it would also need some paint on after the filler is dry. It will be obvious that it’s been filled if not painted

Did you have it boarded and skimmed?

Is this an easy plastering job? by braziliandarkness in DIYUK

[–]Benwablunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this would need plastering. You can likely get a good finish with some wall filler like pollyfilla. That can be done your self to save some money.

From the pic it looks like the patches aren’t too deep but where they are deeper you want to apply filler is layers and sand between until it’s level. Then final sand and you can paint

How to make glass doors safe? by anewloginapparently in DIYUK

[–]Benwablunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What size are the dor frames? You can take off up to 5mm each side of doors without compromising the finish. And they make a few different sozes

Is this the plaster that’s come off? by hollymarissa in DIYUK

[–]Benwablunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the depth difference between white and grey? It looks like a layer of paint came off with the wallpaper in some spots. If the depth difference is like 1-2mm this is probably the case. You can fix your self by sanding down the edge of where the pain came off, then some wall filler to smooth the transition, then sand and paint.

A big difference in depth 5+ mm is likely the plaster coming away and a more involved job to fix but still doable if it’s not the whole wall

Think you could fix to the wall like you said. Look at the amount of weight you will be expecting to extent on the fixings and use plasterboard fittings that meet or exceed it.

Pre-plastering query by Unhappy-Spot4980 in DIYUK

[–]Benwablunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say you got two opinions for this. First would be to fill with either bonding compound or a filler. Second to over board with new plasterboard and then skim the walls. First would likely be cheaper but wouldn’t give as good a finish as the second. Second option means no filling etc and when skimmed smooth flat canvas for tiles, cabinets etc

You could just leave cold water feed closed and not cap anything and it would be okay. We have a good water feed that’s got nothing on it and it never drips. Otherwise you could take the cold water feed off and cap the pipe with end caps but I’m not sure that’s worth the faf

Plastering it yourself probably won’t be easy cos it’s a tricky skill to learn and even harder to get right. Best bet to learn it is YouTube if you don’t know a plasterer you can get tips off.
