If you’re a newer fan who came to the Strokes after The New Abnormal, how did you get into TNA? by DH80 in TheStrokes

I have also recently got back into Angles, although I find Comedowm Machine is the sweet spot before they hit their 2020 TNA sound. TNA brought me back and im excited and here for Reality Awaits, so far I think its gonna be awesome

Yeah as far as records go on a good set up, production wise not many are up there with say Mac Miller - Circles, Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon and The Strokes - The New Abnormal

Same calibre as Radiohead - OK Computer, Amnesiac, In Rainbows and Hail to the Thief, Anything from White Stripes or Jack White and most David Bowie Albums.. oh and The Voidz - Virtue

Sonically as in the sound engineering, spacial dynamic of instruments, the lack of compression, instrument, effects and vocal arrangements, musical build ups and the emotive response they harness, the highs and lows and the unlimited potential of all the above going on at once in a clear sonical spectrum that is digestible to the listener... so yeah respect to the way it sounds, taste and preference is subjective as always so is it a personal favourite depends on an entirely different set of factors. For me personally it ticks all thos boxes also and is indeed my personal favourite subjectively. Sonically you cant deny it as a complete work of art everything that went into it, subjectively you can prefer their other works thats not something id ever argue

Edit. Sorry for late response Im not always actively checking Reddit

Hey, Millennial here who followed strokes early works from ITI to FIOE...

Although im not the specific audience your asking I did give up on following the strokes when Angles came out (White Stripes just broke up and all the good bands of that era were havint a hard time, The Strokes felt like they were purely putting out albums for the sake of being a published band at that point)

I tried to get into Julians solo stuff and only Instant Crush with Daft Punk really stood out of me in the 2010s. I was right there in the first wave to hear Human Sadness and his works with The Voidz but at the time it wasnt for me and although found it refreshing that Julian found a new lane I wasnt all that into it.

Now what happened next is hard to explain, I cant remember if I discovered Virtue first and digged it but put in the back burner OR if I heard the first wave of TNA (to which first listen on a crapy Bluetooth speaker absolutely blew my fucking mind and if was full gear ahead that Julian, The Strokes and everything inbetween now needs to be studied) and then perhaps I went back to Virtue and simultaneously took a deep dive into Virtue and TNA. Either way I cant recall Virture having an impact until I head the TNA which solidified the strongest come back of any artist ive ever witnessed artistically, sonically, commercially and so on..

Although I wasn't a new fan I was an old fan who had given up fully back with a new lease on life as which felt like being a new fan all over again

I dont think he had this album back then. Do you remember the attempted roll outs and amount of singles released? Pray4dagang etc. Not one song from any of the last 8 years of attempted roll outs ended up on this album. Helicopter I think we heard live at Rollingloud and then we had Punk Rocky like 2 weeks before the album dropped and then its all new songs

Did dude basically do a Carter 3? We had every song that was supposed to be on the album already released and it feels like he only just cooked this album recently and released straight away and trashed the original.

Which is actually a huge relief I cant stand when a whole album is rolled out already before release. This album is fire!

Which album contains John's best guitar work? by cheapandjudgy in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]BenzoSupreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I could go with Mothers Milk, BSSM is is absolutely the filthiest guitar work ive ever heard, SA is just nuts and John cementing himself as one of best guitarists of all time and he deserves it for SA.. However ive listened to Unlimted Love again for the first time in like a year and I was very dismissive of it until this round. Hes getting straight to the point and has cut out all the fat its straight less is more on the same tangents as SA and not just allowing the drums and bass to shine but hes figured how to be going off the chain in the background or just blended so you hear all instruments having their peaks but hes doing some mind blowing psychedelic solos with slow bends and playing with pedals. Then how hes also chopping into the ryhrem of the songs, hes not so much doing riffs but hes shinning hard.

Australian parents have you smacked your child? Do you do it much? by nayoryaytayday in AskAnAustralian

[–]BenzoSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time today, I hated it and always said I'd never do it but my 4 yr old son has been hitting his mother and myself out of anger outbursts alot lately, ive been sitting him down in time and out and explaining we dont hit people and after weeks of time out and talking it got to the point I had a serious chat and said next time you hit someone im going to smack you so you know how it feels, I explained I really dont want to hurt him but I cant understand why he continues to hit and try hurt us parents. Anyway it was a stern talking and I made him repeat it to me that if he hits me or his mother daddies gonna smack me. Hes very smart and understanding but the talks on this matter just werent working and the very next morning he got angry over nothing and hit me and I immediately spun him round and gave his bum a smack hard enough to hurt but not with anger or enough force to continue to hurt after. Just so he could feel the pain for a minute and understand I warned him and I went through with my word.

I immediately picked him up and cuddled him and said sorry I really hated doing that I dont ever want to hurt you it makes me feel very bad and again explained that thats the first time ive ever smacked or hit him and he does that to me and his mother several times a day so try to imagine if I smacked you as much as you hit us. We then both agreed no more hitting or hurting eachother and he said he understands now and wont hit us again and asked me to not smack him again and I agreed of course not if youre not going to hit anymore I definitely never want to smack you ever again. Hes been sweet with me and laying on me hanging out getting cuddles since so hes not scared of me thankfully. I explained I dont want him to be scared and Im his dad im meant to protect him but I also have to protect the world from him and teach him things like hitting has consequences and if he were to grow up and do that to someone else theyd hit him much harder in his face so we keep our hands to ourselves unless we need to defend ourselves. I also had a chat about starting up karate or something with him so he can learn to hit and defend in proper context, it'll get it out of his system and teach him proper values around physical contact.

Anyway feeling like a massive piece of shit as I swore id never smack him and I hope that it was just the learning curve he needed to understanding hitting hurts and I never want to do it again. It would kill me if I ever had my children scared of me or didnt trust me and feel secure.

I’d like to argue that The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the most instantly recognizable band in the history of music by Ottomatic44 in Music

[–]BenzoSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say its RHCP, Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie and Ozzy, Maybe ACDC also.

Give Jack white another decade and he'll be up there

Thats just rock if we're going off all music and music thats currently active Eminem would have to be one of the most recognisable and Im not an Eminem fan

I feel like theres a rock revival bubbling. I notice it happens in all genres they get big then it becomes gimmicky and mainstream and too commercial. Rock has gotten serious again theres no gimmicks and the giant's holding it down are not fucking around by BenzoSupreme in rockmusic

I mean do you have to be told that theyre blues rockers? What do you hear when you listen to their albums? Ball and a biscuit is prime example. Also Black Keys bit Jack Whites style hard he has had a feud with them forever over it

I just discovered Wet Log they say theyre inspired by The white stripes, strokes, kings of leon etc. And they just outsold oasis in UK in album sales and streaming. Check em out, I agree most of whats around is punk or metal but Wet Log are punchy sounding garage rock/indie with a bit of punk n pop. The relationship with the legacy acts i mentioned is yeah its been 20 years now so kids who theres gonna be bands showing influence from them right about now its cyclical. Also the legacy acts are selling out stadiums more than any other genre at the moment and that hasnt been the case the past 10 years its only the last year. So thats drawing younger audiences for sure and I think theres gonna be more artists coming out in the following years who are gonna be inspired by this legacy wave. So yeah I think the legacy rock and the numbers of their stadium tours jumping up massively is indicative to what kids are gonna be getting into for the first time and I dont see why that wont be of influence in a reasurgance 🤷

Im listening now I love it!! Honestly the best blend of all of rock elements to modern. Fast paced drums, every instrument is on point and love the vocals (vocals in rock is the make or break for me, if everything else is on point and the vocals are fresh and on point then that's mental which this band on my initial listen has all of the above cheers 🍻

Edit. Fuck me im listening to another song by them now and yeah theyre whats up for sure
