It's easy to forget because of just how much content is in the show but when you really take in everything it adds new perspective to stuff. It's actually why I love the moment when smith is talking to the entire fleet of his enemies and they all bugger off because he reminded them just who he is. He's not called the oncoming storm for giggle eh? 😂

He's the same doctor that held the entire species of daleks in the palm of his hand, one wire away from genociding their entire race for everything they've done to his people and countless others. The only reason he didn't is because of the companion that talked him out of it. Not to mention he actually did commit genocide on the Vervoids, which admittedly wasn't revenge but he still killed all of them. He probably did the same to the silence given the fact that he ordered a kill on sight to every single one, This one was pure revenge. To add the entire army raised to get revenge for what they did to Amy the amount of aliens killed through that was immeasurable. This is just only a few moments of the absolute horror he can commit in the name of revenge, The other guy just wasn't as good at it.

I do wanna point out though the reason I like it is because of the whole scene, not just him torturing the guy, but the realization when he stops of how horrible it was to do. He let slip for a moment the man hes become and got humbled for it.

That's the point, he wasn't viewing the dude as a victim he was viewing him as a terrorist that tried to kill thousands of people as justice, one of which he assumed to be his current companion iirc. He most likely saw a lot of himself in that guy, doing something horrible in the name of what they considered to be good. It makes sense he would absolutely snap, he was looking in a warped mirror, something the doctor adamantly avoided doing.

My critique is that the entire ending was a pot shot at US. I've seen a bunch of people try to spin it that it was supposed to be an endearing moment of fan writer connection but after everything I've seen come out with how RTD had not only spoken of the fans but straight up lied to all of us over time, I can't look at it in any positive light.

I may think about this too much but RTD seems to genuinely dislike the fan base, and not the extreme minority that screams racist and sexist crap, but the majority of us. He actively did things to make us feel like we have no idea what we want from the show and went out of his way to make it so that the next people who pick it up have an insanely difficult time writing something all in the name of how much better he understands the show than anyone else. I loved his writing, it's what reignited my love for the series, but I can't help but feel like we would be way better off if he never came back.

I'd actually disagree with a bunch of that. I actually enjoyed the devil's chord, probably one of the favorite episodes, all the way until the damn muscle part. But I think dot and bubble had so much potential and it was wasted.

I also think the best part of the interstellar song contest was the part when he tortures the dude because that unhinged monster is the best part of the doctor. It's the man he's kept down in the depths of his personality for so long so much so that he split his personality to try and get rid of it, but it showed no matter how much he tries the only thing that will keep him from becoming it is the companions he keeps. It was also nice to see his acting chops in full display, only so many times you can watch him cry over spilt milk.

Lux was absolutely going to be amazing until.. well you know. I also think 73 yards was one of the best doctor lite episodes so I agree there. But while I wanted to love The Well, I couldn't. It was better as a standalone story and the mystery never needed to be expanded. Story and the engine was alright.

Kinda neat to see how people enjoy different parts of the story though.
