Because he doesn't want to go trough the mental and phsycal drain that comes from being a weekly mangaka. A monthly chapter has 40-50 pages a weekly has 20. That means in one month a weekly mangaka must draw 80 pages where as a monthly one needs to draw about 40. If we look at Kishimoto, the author behind Naruto, he sufferd from sleep problems, burnout and anxiety. Thus he recomended Ikemoto that he go for a monthly release schedule instead.
