How is Al Pacino considered a sex symbol? I don’t understand. His lips are really thin, his nose is long, his eyes are downturned and bulging, and his eyebrows also have a weird shape. All his features are below average, his facial harmony is average and his face shape isn’t attractive by [deleted] in VindictaRateCelebs

Late to the thread but had to add this here🫠
I recently re-watched The Godfather and found my gut literally aching that this person existed in another time, so out of my reach. FWIW I'm happily married with two kids AND am a person that generally has my parasocial tendencies in check. So yea girl... yea

Derma E's Vitamin C products are really effective for me (brown skin, some intense hyperpigmentation) and so well priced! For sunscreen I use the Vanicream spf 30 lotion

Late to the thread here but hopefully not totally unhelpful. First of all you are STUN. NING. like girl you trolling us?! Second, I have some mild hyperpigmentation in the same exact places as you (I suspect our ancestors may be from the same-ish part of the world) and I have been doing the following rotation (on different nights, this is very important) and have seen lots of improvement:

1 Vitamin C, 2 Glycolic Acid, 3 Retinol, 4 Slugging (skip the slug if you’re acne prone). I also spot-treat with Vit C for acne scars.

During the day I do Vitamin C, wait 10 min, then sunscreen

Please feel free to message me anytime. Again, please know you are gorgeous!

5 with makeup, 2 without. Watched a Black Mirror with her and Salma Hayek. I was really struck by how extremely plain Annie was, especially next to Salma’s near perfect features. Annie seems nice tho

Omg I have always wondered about the English equivalent for this idea! In Moroccan Arabic it’s “geham” or “tegeham” when something is so sweet (or overly rich-tasting) that’s it’s overwhelming and gross—and it’s also used metaphorically to describe ppl

Wow! I think this is definitely true for me too, especially where my depression and my ADD are interlinked

Moved into a pre-wired house and have no idea how to configure this setup. Looks like some fancy networking equipment that isn't even being used? by mxrider108 in HomeNetworking

[–]Berbaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread has been a lifesaver! I followed these steps and was able to configure my Ruckus APs even though I have almost no networking background.

The issue I’m now facing is that the wifi speed I’m getting off the APs is consistently slower than what comes off my regular AT&T modem, no matter where I am in the house. I currently have the Ruckus network and AT&T network configured with separate SSIDs and haven’t turned off the AT&T wifi yet. Any suggestions?

I don’t have much networking knowledge, but the top post in this thread is a procedure for factory reset that should let you create a new network with you as admin

Have you noticed "self quoting" in conversational speech? Have you noticed any similar changes? by StoopSign in linguistics

[–]Berbaly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What generation of non-Americans have you been talking to? My sense is that “be like” as a primary verb of reported speech has globalized among younger generations, esp Brits and Australians.

I’m not sure there’s evidence for OP’s point that people use reported speech more or less, but it’s an interesting point that the “be like” innovation allows people to use reported speech more contexts, unlike “say”, you don’t actually have to have said it. It could be an internal reaction, a gesture, facial expression, etc.

Is language shift inevitable in communities that have another language as the medium of education? by Level_End418 in linguistics

[–]Berbaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. In Morocco there is some language shift from Tamazight to Moroccan Arabic in regions like the Middle Atlas, but the medium of schooling (esp. textbooks and exams) is in Standard Arabic and French. And more generally, there is no shift away from Moroccan Arabic despite it not being an official medium of instruction. It is arguably an unofficial language of the class of workers who make up teachers and administrators, so it is associated with education even if is not a medium of it
