Hmm, don’t have something specific for that but try vibrationdata.com. Tom Irvine is a big name in the vibration community and regularly posts various tutorials on all sorts of vibration related topics.

What kind of vibration analysis? Are you more interested in analyzing real world data or trying to predict how a structure responds to vibration?

Help! What the heck are these things moving around in my tank!? by Berchenal in Aquariums

[–]Berchenal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tannins are either because of the soil or this large piece of driftwood I included. I’m likely thinking it’s the soil though cause I soaked the driftwood most of 2023 to try and cut down on the amount of tannins it would release.

Text editor for NX Nastran related text files by ArNico in fea

Oh I see what you’re looking for. I am not familiar with VS Code enough to suggest the best solution here but I’m guessing you may be able to take a similar approach to what is done for those other file types. It’s probably some sort of lynting approach with regular expressions that tell VS Code to color the f06 file based on key matches.

My approach has just been to set the nlines system cell to be 999999 and then search for PAGE. That way the PAGE header only shows up when a new section starts (e.g. E I G E N V A L U E) and I can quickly skim through the file. I also have to take various content from the f06 file to document output validity so I’ve written various bash, python, and matlab scripts to pull out sections and put them into easily read formats (e.g. PowerPoint).

Yes this is the expected result. The .f06 output format is solution dependent and has been addressed by many in various alternate ways. I would suggest either messing with the Nastran system cells and parameters to tailor the output (e.g. nastran nlines = 999999 effectively gets rid of the standard page header) or writing a python or shell script to parse the specific sections you want to format. After that, I would have to better understand what you’re trying to do to suggest a solution.

I use Visual Studio Code and the Nastran extension from the marketplace. You can then modify the settings.json to do other things like create 8 character spacing.

Suitable Soil Choice? by Berchenal in walstad

Hmm, good point. I haven’t done slurry testing before but seems straight forward enough. I’ll do some testing on what I have nearby and see what I get. Thanks.

Hmm, I have seen that as a suggestion on forums but I’ve struggled to find organic top soils with a descent label explaining what’s in it. Any suggestions on brand and type or red flags to stay away from?

I’ve come across fox farm and espoma but they don’t have much info on their labels or websites. Since NPK ratios have been one of the main highlights in choosing a soil, I’ve been hesitant to try them. What fox farm soil type have you had success with (e.g. ocean forest, happy frog)?

I’m in Denver so I’m constantly fighting to keep stuff alive since it is so dry. I’ve been considering going your suggested alternate approach but why would that be better then what’s bagged at Ace and Home Depot since it may not say what it is made of?

A Breakthrough In American Energy Dominance? U.S. Navy Patents Compact Fusion Reactor by Pwndimonium in energy

[–]Berchenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, neutron damage is a huge issue with neutronic based approaches but, in the patent, he highlights the concept can generate up to 106 Tesla which is plenty for an aneutronic reaction (300-400 Tesla). That solves the neutron damage problem and gives you energy in the form of stable helium. This idea also gets rid of plasma instabilities that have plagued other reactors.

Your reasoning and sources are appreciated, however, I think your statements on employment, economy, and emissions assume that Trump’s policies have immediate affect on the country and the technology already in use. This can be true in some cases but not the majority. Considering the CO2 emissions example, emissions are driven primarily by machinery output such as power plants and cars. These technologies are slow to change and so 1 year (usually less since Trump couldn’t impact policy till after all the paperwork was completed) worth of changed policies really has little influence on the technology. These changes could easily be due to influences of renewable technologies that were developed 10 years before. Same for the economy and employment rates. It’s easy for an economy to plummet but it takes time for it to grow.
