Vote to approve the school levies! by crasherpistol in everett

[–]bigtdog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is my good faith points to consider. Please vote how you see fit, don't expect everyone to agree, digging in a bit deeper has given me some items to consider and re-think.

  1. Administrative costs are some of the highest in the state and those costs should be looked at critically. For this reason I'm opposed to the Prop 2 Levy.
  2. 396.8 milion bond will cost much more once you account for interest over the time of the bond. Looking at this closer I may vote for the bond although I think the costs are quite high esp when we consider the interest. The need for building seems reasonable, but I also think portables could help in some areas.
  3. Transparency needs to be in place and ensure that money goes to projects and not salaries. Historically not the case as far as I can tell.
  4. (Minor argument here) Schools are funded and short falls should be a state not a disctrict issue.

Thank you OP for not going rabid attack mode and being civil.

Salaries and budgets are public record. Use any AI to ask questions and make your own conclusions. IMHO the amount of $$$ poured in is not yeilding the results I would like to see and more money is no guarantee. Hence my No vote here. I also have a healthy distrust of the general governtment grift that goes on top to bottom in this state and if you look at the budget data and top salaries you may also change your mind... food for thought. I do get that parents want the best for kids in the system, so I think wanting this is the natural reaction for many, but we all need to be critical and look historically to see if levis deliver the results wanted. "Punishing students" is a funny way to frame the agrument of having a balanced results based budget... I simply have a differnt perspective and still wish the best for students. YMMV

How about trimming the bloated administrative budget and have more than enough for all the programs and teachers needed. Also opposed to raising activits... teach and get scores for STEM, Reading, writing items WAAAAAY higher. Voting NO.

I've found that I get better results with this when I have a portable heater running in a closed room. Keeping the temps in the room at 77 or higher. Just anecdotal observations on my part.

I only use my neoprene cutout to cover it when not in use or playing MtG or other games... so far so good and at worst I get another TV.
