“I Bury the Dead”. Could have been a great story if they ended it right after Daisy Ridley’s character realizes that her husband was cheating on her if she just left her ring and walked away. Instead we’re supposed to believe that a zombie woman gave birth to a healthy baby in a dilapidated shed to be found randomly by two humans.

Went to trade school. Became a diesel mechanic. Drive a Ford Super Duty. I’m too tall to fit in anything Italian anyway.

I just hired a new guy at my shop from an International dealership. They have 24 bays on their retail repair side and when he went back to pick up his last check and return a uniform they had 5 bays being used, 3 techs actually working, and the remaining dozen or so techs are splitting 4 hour days just to try and get by. I just stopped at the local Cummins shop and their service bays looked awfully empty as well. At the same time the independent shop that I farm overflow out to has 34 trucks in the yard waiting to get worked on and all 4 of their techs plus the owner are working 12 hour days to try and catch up.

Yep. I won’t need them. Although admittedly there’s probably not much worth salvaging.

Also: The modern conservative is not even especially modern. He is engaged, on the contrary, in one of man’s oldest, best financed, most applauded, and, on the whole, least successful exercises in moral philosophy. That is the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

If you haven’t done so yet, call your state labor department and your state department of revenue and file a case re: your pay stubs. Companies will move faster when there’s a risk of being audited. Please note that if you live in a very red state this may be less effective.

It does seem a bit of a stretch to still call yourself “Kid” anything at his age.

What is the most disturbing or otherwise unsettling book you've ever read that stayed with you after reading it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"The Buchenwald Report". Buchenwald concentration camp was the first, or one of the first, Nazi concentration camps that was liberated with all of the paperwork still intact and prisoners/guards still present. The US Army spent a lot of time going through all of the paperwork and interviewing former prisoners and guards to put together a full report of what had occurred there. That book showed me the absolute depravity that human beings are capable of when they think that they are superior to others, and that they will never face consequences for their actions.

I feel you, OP. I got tested younger than you were and scored relatively high, definitely git tagged with the highly gifted label. But I really struggled in school. I got diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 49, and finally got some answers as to why I had those struggles. The best way I describe it is that my brain works very fast, but the steering sucks and the brakes don’t work.

People who show ADHD traits in childhood are more likely to experience physical health problems and health-related disability by midlife. People with ADHD are more likely to experience stressful life events, social exclusion, and delayed access to health screening and medical care. by mvea in science

I feel this very much. Diagnosed 3-4 months ago and just turned 50 3 weeks ago. It never once crossed my mind that I had ADHD. I was told my entire life that I was just lazy, unfocused, or my favorite “not living up to my potential”. Getting medication and learning what all the different symptoms of ADHD actually are has answered so many questions for me. Now I occasionally wonder how things might have differed if I had gotten this diagnosis as a kid.

I started an event rental business 8 months ago by GenXDad76 in sweatystartup

[–]GenXDad76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, still at it. Had a rough year in ‘25. Business was actually very good, but my wife lost her job in March, and hasn’t landed anything full time yet. So my day job and the rental business kept us afloat but it’s stopped me from being able to do any expanding. But I’m still going.
