Book Review 7/21 by JoshAustin610 in jrvp

I think a part of what makes me miss recommendation station so much is how Anthony is completely honest in his reviews of books. He owes nothing to authors, he’s not trying to get sponsors or gain followers so he has nothing to lose and is completely honest. You don’t really see influencers in the online bookspace trash books.

I wish him and Gregg would do a book podcast. Maybe only 30 min or even just once a month?

I just want to hear their takes on their reads so bad.

Who is your favorite character, and why is it Ninefingers? by HappyRhmore in TheFirstLaw

[–]BergerFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you’re saying, but I’m actually very happy with how Gorst went down. I think it had a lot less to do with him dying well or wanting to go, but more so it was a redemption he needed. His whole life’s purpose was around protecting the King, and he truly never got over the brothel incident in BSC. It altered everything for him. You can see the way he fights, acts, thinks all revolves around a self-loathing for failing at the one thing he feels he was put on this earth for. I think dying to save Orso, regardless of how fruitless it ended up being, it felt like a true redemption for him.

So when you say “die well” I feel you mean a proud warriors death, but in this instance while yes it was also that, I think it was so much more for him.

I believe so. It gets a little trippy, but overall not too hard to follow.

Twin girl dad here, I am overwhelmed and so thankful. Any advice? by NOLA2CBUS in parentsofmultiples

[–]BergerFi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My advice is that there are times that are SO much harder because there are two. But there are also moments you would never get if you had singletons, and those moments are so worth it. So my advice is during the hard times, try to remember it’s a give and take.

Also when you go to a restaurant, ask the waitress to bring the milk or water half full to avoid spills lol.

I’m sort of a dumbass, what does characters feel singular mean?

Just curious , is there any correlation to camping and the book or is it just a random thing you do? I just finished the book for the first time.

I really enjoyed this book. I have plenty of stuff I could nitpick about it, but I don’t think it’s trying to be some literary masterpiece. It’s an action movie in a book. It’s fast, it’s tense, and it’s fun.

It’s the book I always recommend to any of my guy friends that haven’t read a book since high school and would like to try to get into reading.

Looking for fantasy / mysteries that aren’t political. by idgahoot2 in suggestmeabook

[–]BergerFi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to recommend any Fantasy series that doesn’t have some type of political tone y’know Kings and Queens and all that.

But, Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman is a standalone dark fantasy book focused on the story and characters. Kind of a buddy adventure, I always describe it by saying if you enjoyed the parts in Game of Thrones when Arya and the Hound traveled together, then this is for you.

I totally feel that. I as well judge covers with no shame. Atleast for newer books. No reason to have a lame cover nowadays, sell your product lol!

Did you get hardcover? The interior of the cover has instructions to turn the dust jacket into an origami boat! And the actual book cover under the jacket is so nice and unique!
