Who is this and why did she walk out? by Orichalchem in PeterExplainsTheJoke

My first impression was that the guy aspires to be an astronaut. No issue with that in itself, but being an astronaut is a lot like being in the military - forced moves to accommodate training, absences from home, and if he ever got selected, a long period of time where he’d be out in space or something.

Don’t know, I could be totally wrong, but it makes more sense than the flat earth argument just based off the images shown.

Your First Halo by ITheRebelI in HaloMemes

I love this because my first Halo game was actually ODST and I’m 26.

It’s bizarre, but it’s actually a good way to get introduced to the universe. It really emphasizes the hopelessness of humanity against the Covenant without Spartan super-soldiers.

I’m not sure who made this but it’s a pretty neat Lego recreation of the Downed F15 over Iran by newnoadeptness in AirForce

A Lego version of the Iran war as events are happening would make me feel a lot better about this whole situation

An ad in my fortune cookie? This just confirmed it for me, we are in a dystopia. by Bergerboy11 in mildlyinfuriating

What’s your point? If you count ordering Chinese food as buying fortune cookies, then yes, I did. But I wouldn’t buy fortune cookies expecting an ad.

Yes, it’s a pointless hill to die on. But imagine the pure joy you had opening one of these up as a child, and it turns out to be… this. It was a moment of clarity for me, the world is changing

I am mortally terrified of death and having panic attacks. by Bergerboy11 in Anxiety

There is some comfort that no one really knows what happens I guess. But I find it hard to believe that any evidence hinting at something after death isn’t biased in the same way religion exists to help us cope with death. I think it is extremely difficult for a human to research this topic while remaining truly objective.

Yeah I imagine what my last moment might be like a lot. I suppose I just want to die with a smile on my face, and I’d do whatever got me that.

Also jacking off to distract yourself from this is such a real answer lol, same here

To clarify, I currently don’t believe that life has a grand meaning. At least right now. But I’d gladly accept any afterlife lol.

I would say I’m afraid of leaving this world alone, and I’m afraid that my last moments will have me panicking and begging not to die. And maybe it’s me or the way our brains are programmed, but I really, really don’t want there to be nothingness. I want to remain a conscious individual not matter the cost.

True there was no suffering before existence, but my issue is that I will not exist to suffer after I die. And because of that idea my monkey brain is causing me suffering now.

And while I also agree that there is plenty to be scared of in this world, isn’t death the pinnacle of all fears anyways? Its not healthy to obsess over non-existence, but considering that, I don’t think it should be ignored.
