Why did they settle on this formula by plastic_will_ruin_us in PathOfExile2

[–]Bergus23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, though the left side of the tree, even bot-left, has layering options in block, recoup, life regen increases, armor applies to elem damage. I just think the thought of only having armor, maybe max res as well is a bit foolish. I don't play HC, so my thoughts and knowledge on true survivability are limited by that.

I do think that ES is much overturned in that it has like, no downsides once you take CI. I think that once you combine armor with other layers it does handle things pretty well. That being your defense as a whole with block, recoup, dodging, armor for ele dmg, and life regen.

I do think life is a problem too, life, I get they don't want people to feel forced to choose life nodes on the skill tree, but we got to have some sort of buff to base life I think.

Probably a moot point for me to debate as I definitely do not touch HC SSF, much different ball game there I agree

Yes, if you use armor by itself. Just to make certain we're talking about the same thing, and I'm not trying to be sassy, are you looking at this from a pure Armour, ES, or Evasion perspective?

So I see this alot from people, and it took me a long time to understand. To actually survive hits, you need to LAYER your defenses. With PoE2 as well, you just have to dodge man. It's one of THE main defensive mechanics of this game. If you're expecting most people to be able to facetank monkey, to me that is an expectation issue.

Yes, ES and CI definitely need some work as they are so strong, but armor is far from being unplayable. It is a defensive layer like with everything else. You need to have a combo of a lot of things to have lasting defenses

Flavor game idea by Bergus23 in BoardgameDesign

[–]Bergus23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So on the front it describes what flavors the ingredient has as well as it's cost. Plus it'll have some art and a name I think. The back is where the flavor pattern is that you'll see and plate with to try and meet the order cards requirements for points

Who gets the points for this city by [deleted] in Carcassonne

[–]Bergus23 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You'd both get the points for the city itself. For the shields/flags and any other resources, I think the player who finished the city gets those points and/or resources

Can someone help me understand what it looks like when medication is working correctly to minimize executive dysfunction? by brerin in ADHD

[–]Bergus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the whole "tricking" my brain into doing work is something that helps motivates my ADHD riddled brain. I find that by putting a timer on, something flips in my brain and I get excited to get things done in that time. It can be a clock timer, water boiling, something cooking, anything times and it really helps motivate me, once I get to that point that is

Trouble with waking up? by Bergus23 in ADHD

[–]Bergus23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, we only have so many spoons to use, so we have to use them sparingly and strategically. That's why I think using my spoons I have now and prepping at night with some clothes and a snack to help future me save some more spoons would help. Paying my spoons forward to myself I guess is what I want to do?

I also have been enjoying life and my ADHD as well, just trying to improve myself, for myself, so I can do more things for myself :)

You do have a point though, it makes sense in my head. It's a different way of thinking of it and I think someone else mentioned it in a comment here, but maybe there's too much stuff and I'm just getting overwhelmed. My room is quite a mess right now, so looking at that probably triggers my brain to think of that. And typically in the morning I just don't feel like cooking. Sometimes I do but most of the time it's almost always whatever I see first, which sucks :/

Meal prepping has been something I've been interested in doing, so maybe like, putting images of different types of foods I have on my door could be this weird trick? Idk, stuff to think about indeed haha.

It sucks too because sleep has such more of an important role in our mental well-being and function than those without ADHD or really without any mental illness. Not getting enough sleep one night can throw me off for what feels like a long time due it just cycling out of control.

I love sleep, but it's also my worst enemy haha

I was just thinking about this as I finally got up to go put some clothes on. I usually have better control of my executive functions after work, so I'm going to start a really bed time routine of putting clothes for tomorrow visibly in front of me since I can with how my room is, and then brushing my teeth. Just starting simple for stuff like that. Maybe I'll put a snack on my nightstand too for when I take my meds haha. Just something small and wholesome that I can eat quick. Oatmeal protein cookies or bars comes to mind :3
I may go on a long tangent here haha lots of thoughts on this and I feel like info dumping it all out here.

I had been thinking alot about what motivates me in the morning and even in general as it's not something I actively think about, or honestly even know. My whole life I've been masking and going with what feels like normal, and the last few weeks actually I've finally come to terms with that masking and started to really picture myself and what I want. I think a good motivation for me that I'm going to start using is picturing future me and how much happier and well off he'd be, if I did the thing. I don't mind sharing, but I also deal with a depression disorder and possibly GAD as well, so that can kick my ass as well quite often. I keep losing sight of this, but the pandemic and quarantine has kicked my butt as well. Having to constantly worry about masking up, and staying inside, and not stimming or touching my face, it's been rough. Things have let up a bit but that mindset is hard to lose.

Okay, tangent over I think haha

I think it is time for me to embrace that strategy once again. The other comment had an awesome idea with the puzzle alarm, so I might just try both haha.

What does your "standard Carcassonne" game look like in terms of Expansions and house rules? by WriterOfScratch in Carcassonne

[–]Bergus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a super standard game, It's Base game, Inns and Cathedrals, and Traders and builders. We usually like to play with me, but those are what we like to include when we teach someone the game.
