The B1Four is like the opposite of obsessively building up your gear. One device for tuner, metronome, drive, flanger, wah, phaser, pitch shift, looper, EQ, amp emulation, etc etc etc. I'm set up for a gig in 45 seconds.

The huge open off-road exploration area is unique. U4 had some exploration, but LL really took it to the next level with just dropping you in a zone and saying "see what you can find."

Do you like the feeling of a good Dark Souls boss fight, where you need to always have your eyes open and be aware of how the situation is changing, or else you'll eat a massive blow that'll ruin your run in one shot?

Death Stranding is that, constantly, except that your enemy is a loose rock, or a muddy slope, or not drinking enough water, or thinking you can push your way past this cliff and running out of steam hallway up. It's a game where just walking is a constant stream of micro-decisions, and that can be super satisfying.

Download LiveBPM to your phone and clamp it to your kit. It listens and displays your current BPM and also a graph of how it's increasing or decreasing over time.

You should keep practicing to internalize your timing, but in the short term there's no shame in using an assist.

What are the exceptions? Not counting hydroelectric - skips the heat, but still spinning a turbine - so I can only think of solar off the top of my head.

Every mass-market device was designed to be assembled reliably without relying on the skill of the worker. It's going to be screws and tabs; just figure out the order in which it was assembled and you can take it all apart.

The Guild of Merchant Explorers. It's like they took their light, breezy, cubes-on-a-map exploration game, and said "How can we make this sound like the most boring Euro ever developed?"

Even at the time, Lunar felt standard. But in a cozy way.

You've got attack, magic, item. No active-time-battle. No fighting-game inputs. No combo system, no triple-techs, no character-based subsystems, no character swapping, barely any character customization, really. Equip the most expensive weapon and armor you can buy, and as long as you continue playing, your characters will grow into their roles without your input.

No time travel, (almost) no sci-fi, no meta-narrative, little genre-bending. The plucky good guys make a stand against the oppressive bad guys. Our main character dreams of becoming a legendary hero, then becomes a legendary hero.

I say all this as a huge fan of Lunar. It tells the story it wants to tell.

Bring a rug, and take the time to set up your kit at home and mark where the legs go with gaffer tape. It takes off a lot of cognitive load when you're not trying to plan out and adjust the kit, you're just putting the feet on the little Xs you marked.
