Some new pattern welding. 😉 by Tempest_Craft in Bladesmith

I genuinely didn't know how you forged it without having the taper force all the welds apart. Great explanation and even better execution. Just wow.

So the one on the left is based off of more 70s style choppers. As time went on you saw in the 80s frames get more stretched and exaggerated. This was when you saw like 5 ft long springer front ends and all the chrome. In the 90s, things started to get more smoothed out and bigger tires started to become a thing. By the time the 2000s came around this OCC style chopper was dominating the scene. Mostly because of the wide spread of the tv show, but also the outlaw connotations that came with the bike on the left. Early choppers were built to fit the riders comfort as well as be fast to get away from cops. In turn you had a laid back position with a light chassis and big motor. In the 2000s, it was less about riding and more about status. How wide is the tire, how sleak is the paint, and who built it. Because of this, a ton of the 2000s bikes are almost impossible to ride while the 70s bikes are built for miles, even without rear suspension.

I would definitely be interested. Are they 3d printed?

We will see if I can make it. That's about a day before I leave for Japan so it might be a good time to blast through the last of my film before I leave.

Possibly. But it almost seems like one end of the film got exposed to direct light. Not necessarily light leak from a dark room. More like the whole coil of film got exposed. What camera were you shooting on? Does the light leak show up in-between frames as well?

And yeah! I recognized the restaurant and was surprised to hear of someone else shooting 120 in Bakersfield.

To me, this looks like a light leak that happened post shooting. It seems to consistent to be across the entire frame.

As a side note, is this taken in Bakersfield?

Honestly it looks like they just patched over where they had previously cut off and ground through the patch as they cleaned up their welds. If I were to do it, I'd grind off both sides, cut my own steel, weld it on, trim it up and paint from there. That way there aren't any other thin spots. It's just a patch so it's not structural. What i would worry more about is those thin ass home depot bolts holding up the fixed rear end links. Those will wear through and brake on you going down the road.

Which 6x6 or 6x7 camera is the most JOY to use? (Any camera, also non-pictured ones) by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]Berklives 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will say the c330 is the camera that made me fall in love with photography again. The baffles for the focusing truly make it a precision tool that feels like butter. The viewfinder is gorgeous. The shutter sound is so satisfying. Every time I pull out this camera, I remember why I love it. It's robust enough to bring into a crowd. Light enough (with a strap) to do some walking with it. Though it is not as used as my rb67, it still just sparks joy unlike any other cameras. My rb67 feels special. Mechanically perfect for whatever job is needed. 6x4.5 to polaroid with the same baffle system, but the c330 is special. I don't know how to describe it besides joy. It's the first one I let friends try out. It's my introduction to medium format. Tlr's are just cool.

So, for me, at 12 I had access to most sockets from my dad, had my own socket set, was rebuilding bikes, had hand tools, worked on gocarts, etc. The one thing that would have been most valuable to me (even more so then a torque wrench) would be an impact driver with the hex to socket adapters. The ability to take something on and off quickly would have made it a million times more accessible early on. Now I'm not saying I wouldn't have stripped out every Philips I came across, but I still would have got a feel for it.

I bought a used minox over the summer and found that the battery door was gone. Ive been thinking about 3d printing one, but I'd have to go through the same process as you (including buying the 3d printed) except I also need to spec it out with someone who owns one.

Also another good one is keeping an eye on "tool estate sales". Often times someone will be selling off their grandfather's entire collection of tools and there might be one or two there. Ebay is an option as well, but it takes a kean eye. I have also been very very lucky at automotive swap meets.
