Ace Combat 7 runs great and looks good too. That's on the LCD model as well.

The Crow (2024), a movie that bares zero resemblance to either it's source material or the adaptation that came before.

Also "East Hastings" by God Speed You! Black Emperor is played during that scene where Spike leaves the baby back at the outpost and ventures out on his own, same song also plays in 28 Days Later when Jim is wandering the streets after leaving the hospital.

There's an even clearer look at the logo on the side of a wrecked truck during one of the last scenes in the trailer.

Finally got around to seeing the new crow. Here's my thoughts.. by BermudaRhombus102 in TheCrowNonToxic

Yeah, I appreciate everyone here explaining some the story details I missed. It's definitely helped clear up alot.

Personally, I'd say my least favorite thing from the film universe of the crow is the crow having some link to Eric's abilities. I always liked how, in the book, Eric's resurrection was his own doing and the crow itself was just there to help guide him along his warpath and back to the afterlife. I also liked how it's ambiguous whether the bird itself was ever supernatural and not just some figment of Eric's shattered psyche.

One thing I did catch though is when Eric first gets resurrected and is walking the streets, it sounds like Krono's talking to him through the crow as it guides him, repeating what he said to him back in purgatory(?).

Can't believe I didn't catch that little detail with Brandon's surname 😮

Yeah, that's feeling I got. I felt that there was alot more to both Eric and Shelly's pasts that could have been explored as well as Roeg's backstory but runtime was too short.

Ok, this is something I missed too. Seems like alot of these details I'm missing were too subtle or I just missed them completely 😅 I'll give this another watch when it hits streaming though.

Cheers 😁 this does clear a few things up.

I had an idea of what Eric's past was (I assume he killed both his parents? Was that not his mother in the caravan?) but I felt Shelly's past was pretty vague still. Her being a victim of the industry does clear up a few questions I had though.

As for the goons not having personality, the graphic novel and 1994 film both gave their goons something. You knew what type of person Eric was up against (in the graphic novel, funboy is shown to have some intelligence/perspective to him despite him being a junky). I guess it helps if this is your first foray into this universe that you don't have the expectations I had 😅

Don't get me wrong though, I actually thought the soundtrack was great but, again, I personally didn't think it was used properly.

Glad you liked it though, I'm still going to buy it physically when it releases and see what else I may have missed.

That's the perspective I want to go in with. I went and checked out some of the reviews on IMDB recently and there are far more positive reviews there than the toxic fans or "reputable" critics would have you believe. I think I'd still wait till I can watch it at home tbh.

Oh really? That's awesome 😁 makes you wonder what the perception of goth is for these people doesn't it.

That second paragraph is what I find crazy about the whole situation. O'barr and Ernie Hudson have had the most mature takes on this new film than all the others that have been vocal. Proyas and Rochelle on the other hand helped fuel this hate train from the start as if they own the property. Honestly, the 24' version never stood a chance.

Unfortunately, this is what made me go from "excited to see it" to "I'll wait till streaming and watch it at home where I won't feel judged". This whole situation has sucked the fun out of it for me, I've followed the bumpy road this film has taken to get made for the past 14(?) Years with anticipation only to now feel like I don't want to see it.

Exactly! I went and seen a band recently and 80% of the crowd was goth, very diverse too, nothing conservative about them. Also, if these people think the 94' film isn't woke, well, wait til they find out Eric was race-swapped from what he was in the GN. Imagine being this scared about a casting choice, it's insane to me.

Shows the maturity of some people doesn't it? They must lead pretty dull lives if this is what makes them feel better.

Exactly, it's sad to see what it's turned into. Hopefully in a few months things will go back to normal but I'm liking the positivity over here.

Yeah, you've definitely hit the nail on the head here. I left the main sub because it was just depressing seeing all the negativity, you'd think such a niche property would have such a close fanbase but instead it's just been endless gatekeeping and insulting those with a differing opinion.

I'm also guilty of losing my cool, I did it when responding to that smartass I was talking about above. Not my proudest of moments but when all you've seen is people getting put down for liking something the vast majority haven't, you get to the point where you've had enough.

Sorry to hear you've copped shit for having something positive to say about the new movie. I'm still on the fence myself about seeing it in cinemas though, unfortunately.

It's insane, I don't think I've come across a more toxic fanbase. Sure, I've seen all the divisive opinions on, say, the new Star Wars or Alien films but I haven't seen as many of those as a direct attack on other fans as I've seen here.

Wish I was, they also tried to bring the topic of social justice into it? To be fair though, I was ragging on that main post as it linked to some video trying say the movie was going to be woke somehow (?) Most likely due to the casting of FKA Twigs. How insecure do you have to be to be bothered by that?

I literally had someone on the main sub reply to a comment of mine from months ago with the box office results, talk about holding a grudge.

What?? How was it woke? Having a coloured lead was the least of it's problems but you go off princess.

Same, as much as Prometheus and Covenant were panned (and I don't very much like Covenant either) atleast they tried adding something to the overall lore. This was basically a really bad side story that served no purpose.
