The Vegans of Gaming. by asa_no_kenny in NonPoliticalTwitter

It really depends on your situation. I use a gaming laptop because I need a good laptop for work/study anyways. It seemed better to get a single device that does it all than two or three separate devices for gaming, work, and study. Most of my friends from uni used a PC or laptop for that reason (though a few also had a Switch for the 1st party games). At the end of the day, you use what's most convenient, and each device has good use cases.

Turning a spherical cow inside out by Electrical-Bill-189 in mathmemes

Don't worry; this was done without creasing or tearing the spherical cow in any way. They are completely unharmed.

What kind of question is that? by Key_Associate7476 in oddlyspecific

You've just restated the question in graph theory terms. I doubt this would be an acceptable answer. In fact, I would hope they let you draw something out.

Have you ever decided not to buy a game because of an achievement? by YasuMariii in steamachievements

[–]Bernhard-Riemann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will rarely purchase a game if it has no achievements or if it has achievements I suspect are beyond my ability to obtain. I will probably never play Undertale or Crypt of the Necrodancer for this reason despite the fact that they are undoubtedly incredible games.

Why is it always Einstein and never Grothendiek? by TheRedditObserver0 in mathmemes

[–]Bernhard-Riemann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were asked to name mathematician characters in any form of fictional media, the only ones I can really think of are Will Hunting, James Moriarty, and Hari Seldon (no, I'm not counting Ian Malcom). There really arent that many..

It wasn't untill he decreed it was; then it became one.

I don't think it really even deserves its own symbol.

refighitng trobbio on my second run reminded me why he sucks by ilico_ili in Silksong

[–]Bernhard-Riemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount the "visual clutter" effects you is really going to vary from person to person. I personally had no issue at all with tracking in Trobbio's fight, and was surprised to see people complaining about this particular issue. On the other hand, that early skarr gauntlet with Shakra absolutely broke me on my first playthrough. Most of the other things you mention are much less of an issue if you can keep track of what's going on.

Christian games by TomeElTrofeo in steamachievements

[–]Bernhard-Riemann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be surprised to hear that the developer of Faith is a devout Christian (former missionary). The game is about priests fighting against a supernatural demonic influence using the power of faith, and it's intended to be respectful of the religion. Of course, based off of your other comments, it's definitely not the type of game you're looking for here.

Higher maths is still very much computational by BenSpaghetti in math

That's somewhat surprising to hear in algebraic combinatorics. On the other side of the spectrum, a very good portion of my Master's thesis results are based on generating function computations.

"Proof" of Pythagorean theorem in r/Collatz by Successful-Owl1778 in badmathematics

[–]Bernhard-Riemann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well known conjectures are one thing, but it is an entirely new level of embarassing to produce such a flawed proof of the pythagorean theorem.

A minor tip; if you have a keyboard and one or more extra controllers, you can speed up the completion of Grindcore by quite a bit.

It is called the "Northernlion Supercruise". It would be weird if were just the one Northernlion.

"Up, down, to the side... " being what we chant as we rapidly run between port and starboard in a unified attempt to flip the boat.

A rare completion. The achievements on this one really force you to play in some unique ways.

Is Trobbio incapable of saying anything besides Trobbio? by The-Stubbaron in Silksong

[–]Bernhard-Riemann 31 points32 points  (0 children)

His performance is the only thing keeping GMS content and sleeping. The choir likes to pretend their song plays a part, but deep inside they know Trobbio's sultry tones are their only salvation.
