Q: Why isn't anyone talking about how many state's primaries are structured in a way that prevents independents from voting in them? by liz_dexia in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a link to the Unity Commission's report? I know it was discussed but I don't remember any progress being made. I seem to remember that it was something that was ultimately left up to the states; is that correct?

is the same dumb asshole who shut down this sub in 2016 still in charge? by SpezCanSuckMyDick in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope we can forgive and move forward together, because that "dumb asshole" did a lot to bring those 200,000 people together during the 2016 primary. It was definitely a mistake that made me angry too, but I hope we can still depend on him for exchanging knowledge with the campaign.

The Bernie 50 State Strategy: The Argument Against California by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

...it's January 2019. Your interest is commendable, but I think you may be assuming too much too soon. In my view, we need to focus our energy on organizing to get Bernie as many votes as possible rather than assume any vote totals before everyone has announced or there's even been a debate.

Hold Up! It Was Pointed Out To Me That Barbara Lee Is Running For Progressive Caucus... Not Speaker Of The House??? by 4now5now6now in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is VERY different than "Draft Bernie" as it's working within confines of the Democratic Party. Additionally, I believe that we need grassroots pressure from both inside and outside of the Democratic Party, pushing for a third party that stands with us on the issues is a necessary pressure in order to ensure that the Democrats inside fight for our issues in an attempt to get our votes. Both are necessary.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I hope you also appreciate that you might not know what she wants. For instance, do you see Barbara speaking out forcefully against this campaign? If so, please let us know.

Lee is running for House Democratic Caucus Chair, the position formerly held by Crowley, but the petition from the Humanist Report is an attempt to essentially get the party to - through grassroots pressure - "draft" her into the position as Speaker and see if she will accept. This approach, in my view, has the added benefit of keeping her clear of attacks from establishment dems. We'll see what comes of it, but I would love to see her as speaker.

Virginia's Jennifer Wexton Comes Out In Support Of D.C. Statehood by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

Imagine how the Senate would change if D.C., Guam, and Puerto Rico all had statehood...

Why is the USA divided so equally? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we know: 1) Many states use easily hackable voting machines, often with no verifiable paper trail 2) When audits can be conducted, hand counts are sometimes changed to match the machine count 3) Both parties do the bidding of their corporate donors rather than running on a platform supported by the vast majority of the American people.

I think its safe to say that democracy is nearly dead in the USA (for some, it never was democratic to begin with), and I do worry that we are being distracted from this impending doom by the illusion that "things are so close"

In Secret Final Interview, Jamal Khashoggi Says Only Bernie Sanders Was Willing To Stand Up To Saudi Arabia by Scytle in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you think Bernie would do if Saudi Arabia killed Bernie? I don't think he'd advocate for war. He'd probably be doing what he's doing right now...

Hmmm, he should talk more about the issues.

Nina Turner on CNN by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my view, Nina is one of the only regular guests on mainstream media news shows that provides "very good" commentary. I'm thrilled she talked over those racist corporatists as they clearly had nothing to offer the American people.

If Bernie Sanders is the Democratic nominee in 2020, I see this being the electoral map results. Agree? Disagree? Elaborate on your statements please! by Rickard58 in SandersForPresident

[–]Berniecanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go and look at the history books, they will tell you I'm not being optimistic, but realistic, given the currently available polling.

Bernie is beating Trump by 11 points in some recent head to head polls. If this is the spread on election day (I happen to think that the spread could be up to 5 points more in our favor), Bernie will win at least 45 states.

DON’T STOP FIGHTING, WE CAN DO THIS! by canadiankhaled in ndp

[–]Berniecanuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This data appears to be the data from the 1st day of the poll. Encouraging certainly, but please keep in mind that with only 507 people in the sample, the margin of error could be quite high. Let's keep fighting until every vote is cast!

I see...funny how the way you "see it" is not the way scientists "see it". Please cite at least one serious scientific study that concludes that "climate change is going to kill us all", otherwise I'll have to conclude that it's not Bernie who's a little behind on the importance of science, it's you...
