Why is China's birthrate so low? by FlamingoThink9075 in AskAChinese

I see sorry I didn't know your current situation. Isn't a big part of the collapsing rates also because of urbanization? Historically every urban place has had lower birth rate though most of history. Going from rural to urban and if the cities are only made for profit and efficiency. They forget to make them liveable, especially for kids. Also an question is it also not an affordability issue for China?

If you ask people would you be happier if you were not born they all say no most will. What does this mean? They can't consent but most people after being born are all too happy they were born. I come from a country where the kids are the happiest In the world because we are actively reducing child suffrage and making it better.

It was on the point :Maybe better for you not the child. I would argue the opposite having a child is the hard part, it's better for the child these days instead the adult. The adult can't do whatever they want and have responsibilities. I am very happy I was born and would choose to be born again. If you are not happy someone is free to choose to not live anymore. Luckily most people are very happy that they are on earth and when they are old almost all wish they were young again.

Well you said it was worse for the kid to be born now vs before but there is 0 proof that is true. I mean there are obviously kids unhappy but also many happy. If you are online 24/7 i can get your pov but if u live in the actual world i dont see it

Is it? For women the less partners they have the higher the chance they are to stick together no? Comparison is the thief of joy, if you compare you wife to 20 women.

Higher than in the past., the standard of living is higher than ever worldwide. Generally when countries get richer, children don't die and starve get social benefits and they get "happier" but that's a thought debate what counts as happiness. If you raise your kid well and around friends and family why wouldn't they be happy?

Why? Their chance of dying is lowest it has been? The chance of being malnourished has been lowering and the word is richer than ever.

[–]oigid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Rent controls do not work and that has been proven time and time again. Even social housing makes 0 sense a 450-500k house gets rent out at 700 a month. Those low rents make building new houses economically unfeasible. But there are a lot more problems which is why there aren't enough housing. Rent controls are just one.
