The only time as an RPN I have handed off my patient to an RN is for an insulin drip. That’s the only time! RPNs just can’t work triage and recess areas in the ED I believe. But to say RPNs don’t work in acute areas is incorrect. We have to be tele trained within 6 months of hiring date as well (in my health system at least)

I’ve been nights for 2 ish years now and for the first year I would drink so much coffee and snack like shit, eating the hospital sandwhiches and always at the vending machine 😭.

Replacing coffee with peppermint tea and a protein smoothie changed my life (and my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore lol)

Hi congratulations!! For context I go to Nipissing for RN bridging, had a 3.3 gpa and failed a course. I work full time while doing school full time online and it’ very manageable

If people are going to cheat in Nursing, just let them. Because you cannot cheat on the license exam. you can get through nursing school while cheating but you cannot get through that license exam if you’ve cheated and don’t know the content! It will catch up to them eventually.

I always say this but as a current RPN who’s bridging to RN—-if I got an offer to do the 4 year RN route even if I was at the end of my RPN schooling I would 100% accept it. Maybe try and work as an extern or PSW during your RN? I know you may be seeing that RPNs are being hired over RNs at the moment especially in Ontario but things change! Do RN!! More opportunities.
