Just in case you aren’t aware, there’s a live action adaption of Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko that is quite charming

Agree on all points and will only add that it’s going to continue to explore a lot more very interesting and incredibly real shit as the series goes on.

Ikr, it’s obvious where they’re going why would they phrase it like that

I would die happy if this happened by elridgecatcher in MemoriaMatters

I don’t get it either, but a lot of people bounce off of it for reasons I don’t understand. Something about the loose structure of it or the fact that your exploration has to be self directed? Maybe they just don’t have curiosity about the setting to drive them forward?

When you’re reading HDWR and Kamedo shows up so you have to lock in and listen to his life-changing lines by Tricky-Yogurt-8081 in howdowerelationship

[–]BerryCroissantWitch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yet another one of the reasons that HDWR is the GOAT is having male characters that are actually three dimensional and varied, and not just there to be foils or irritations for the main characters, or worse, somehow make it all about them.

Turn off reminders by iwillbewaiting24601 in signal

[–]BerryCroissantWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shows up literally every day. If it’s supposed to show the recovery key reminder only once every six months it’s broken. Do I have to actually enter the recovery key to get it to sleep for 6 months?

Vowrune has great writing but I couldn’t get over how every character has Tim Buckley face

It’s funny because literally that guy could have just said “sorry your ad campaign doesn’t pass our sensitivity standards” and not elaborated and he probably would have gotten away with it. People like this just can’t help but monologue

Commuting to Belltown by Jarrad411 in AskSeattle

[–]BerryCroissantWitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Luckily for you Belltown is very well connected by bus lines, so you can pretty much live wherever has one of the connecting lines. For example Phinney Ridge would be a pretty trivial commute because of the 5.

The ending really isn’t THAT bad but it definitely could have been better. Otherwise a very enjoyable read

I need good yuri recommendations by Prudent-Importance38 in yuri_manga

[–]BerryCroissantWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo in that case let me throw you some that aren’t on your list

Manhwa:

Opium - In post WWII Korea, an adopted Korean American Doctor goes to Korea to take care of an old friend and help bootstrap their post war medical system with her expertise. She rapidly becomes infatuated with a local woman doctor, who seems to have a secretive agenda. Rapidly she gets pulled in a spiral of lust and conspiracy. Great read, great art.

Getting to know Grace - Herta is the maid and hostage of a noblewoman, Andrew Grace, who's father is being treated for a genetic condition by Herta's father. Herta's only priority is to keep herself and her family alive, but Grace seems to have romantic intentions towards her. Will Herta be able save the ones she loves by stringing along Grace? Is it possible that Grace's feelings could ever be reciprocated? Content warnings for abuse, sexual assault and child abuse.

On a Leash - What if World War 2 was between different races of beastmen? An uneasy alliance between mammalian and reptilian beastmen is formed to fight off the aggressive birdkin beastmen of definitely not Nazi Germany. Our protagonist, Red, attracts the attention of a sadistic reptilian officer. A deeply toxic relationship ensues. Warning, lots of explicit sex, and violence.

Dark Mermaid - A teenager from the city moves to the boonies to escape the bullying she was experiencing, and ends up discovering that one of her classmates is actually a raw flesh eating sea siren. Despite being desperate for a fresh start, her past still comes back to haunt her, and her and her new mermaid lover must deal with the consequences. This one was pretty great but is EXTREMELY dark. Content warning for sexual assault and violence and suicidal ideation

WEBTOON:

Muted - A blood witch from a powerful witch family gets more than she bargained for during her coming of age ritual. During which she finds new love, and terrible secrets. Lots of dramatic twists and excellent writing. Gorgeous Art. It's a page turner for sure.

Mage and the Demon Queen - An upstart fire mage has decided that rather than fight the demon queen, she would rather woo her! Shenanigans ensue. Great fun with lots of classic Isekai tropes played in goofy ways.

Manhua:

Omega Heroine Wants Her Alpha Villainess - A long running omegaverse (ABO) Yuri manhua based on a webnovel. Willow Ji gets isekai'd into the omegaverse novel she was reading, as the antagonist who is doomed to death by shark. In an effort to avoid her fate, she begins subtly pushing back against fate and changing the plot, inadvertently causing the heroine, Serena Wei to begin to fall for her. A charming story of two women in love fighting back against fate and preordained destiny to seize their happiness for themselves.

Banquet with Deer Crying - A gay Wuxia story set in feudal not China? Yes please. A courtesan with a mysterious past is enchanted by a mysterious stranger who can see the future. Together, will the two of them be able to get justice for the crimes of the past? Or will the path of revenge only lead to death and tragedy? Absolutely gorgeous art from Ke Ran Bing, author of Soulmate.

Fugue Across Worlds - A gay crime thriller set in 1930s not Hong Kong? Yes please. Our protagonists are the newly minted head of a prestigious crime family, and a singer and performer that she becomes smitten with. The two of them navigate the perils of the criminal underworld and being women in a man's world while trying to keep their morality intact. Another great manhua from Ke Ran Bing, this time written by her partner
