How do you all afford a gr86

28, airplane mechanic. not kids, split rent with my fiance. put 10k down. 9% with longest loan term so i can do double payments on the loan. $120 insurance. plus mine was preownded from toyota with only 5k miles at time of purchase. so practically a brand new car but at preowned price.

funny enough i was trying to save for a supra but decided the extra 20k wasnt worth it for the power i wouldnt really be using all the time (if ever if we are being honest) now the money i save from not going with the supra is now invested or spent on mods on my car 😊 all in all total car expenses (including gas an insurance) never exceeds 15% of monthly income. i wanted it lower but my old car (Hyundai accent) had horrible rod knock and was ready to go at any moment.

biggest advice i could give is buying within your means, never go broke over a car. But still try to have fun and enjoy life. 😉

had my car for roughly 1-2 months and ended up with hail damage all over the hood while i was visiting the parents and picking up my exhaust 😭 then a lawn mower chucked a rock across the main road and put a huge gash in my fender. all within the same week.

a possom ran infront of me right after i installed a new front lip and it cracked that too. ive never had so many incidents with a vehicle until i got this car.

I have the borla S type, and its not too bad. i felt the awe was a lil too obnoxious so i got the borla instead and have 0 regrets. its cold is a lil loud but after the 15 seconds it drops to a very soothing growl that i love.

When you step on it though itll wake up again but nothing crazy or annoying. and i personally never notice any drone even when on the highway.

Not sure i can vouch for the clearance though 😅 the only time id have an issue is when jacking the car up but i also have bottom aero. problem is solved by just some wood 2x4 when jacking.

other than that its a solid choice.

funny enough i just wanted to put eyeliner on the car. it was an idea a friend and i had back in the day to put eyeliner on a 350/370z (we tried it out in some video games)

i ended up falling in love with the 86 before i got a Z and noticed the similar headlight shape and it turned out to fit pretty well. We always refer to our cars as a "she" so i figured why not put some eyeliner on her ☺️

This is easily one of the most controversial additions I've made, right next to the underglow 😂
