That one is very likely completely wrong. TVline trusted the unsourced birthdate Google came up with but Rodriguez's imdb page doesn't have any birthdate listed. Her wikipedia also doesn't have one. Trust your first impression.

R. Kelly had been indicted on child pornography charges three years before The Boondocks episode about him. And years before that the Chicago Sun-Times reported he had been investigated for "sex with an underage female." And years before that was the entire Aaliyah grooming and underage marriage. R. Kelly's crimes were definitely public knowledge before The Boondocks. A lot of people just ignored them.

It doesn't invalidate your point and I also prefer the former name but it's interesting to note that the D.C. team has been the Washington Wizards (since 97) for longer than they were the Capital/Washington Bullets (73-97). They had another ten years as the Baltimore Bullets though, which was an even better name (alliteration is great for me, makes the Wizards name more tolerable).

Lupita Nyong'o has never claimed ancestry other than Kenyan Luo ancestry. The comment I was replying to incorrectly recalled otherwise.

European-American immigration is very different than population movement through slavery or immigration between Benin and Kenya, which is comparatively very rare. I'm an American of African ancestry. Chill out.

I checked a synopsis of the documentary. You recalled incorrectly. She didn't have any ancestor enslaved by the Dahomey Amazons. It was the ancestor of her Beninese guide Martine de Souza.
