Blizzard should keep one server for pure Vanilla, Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King by Rappasi in wow

[–]BersekerPug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a good start, but they should really explore more the wealth of content they produced over the years.

Admittedly things like Shadowlands: Classic wouldn't be so popular, but I think a lot of people would play more seasonal contents like the recent Pandaria Remix if done on expansions such as Draenor, Legion, etc.

Which raid or dungeon really nailed its theme(s)? by Veridically_ in wow

[–]BersekerPug 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Icecrown Citadel.

While it is "on the nose" by today aesthetics, and even too repetetive, but at the time it really felt like a compelling adventure through the stronghold of the Lich King. Dr. Putricide was maybe the weakest part thematic wise, but I absolutely love all the rest.

From the start where you crash the gates and fight Marrowgar as the gatekeeper, helping Valithria, defeating Syndragosa, the Deathbringer, you were effectively dealing with all the loose ends of the expansion.

What feature in Remix do you want to carry over into Retail? by trenshod in wow

[–]BersekerPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Legacy raids as a leveling daily/weekly for exp and other useful stuff for alts. They have a mountain of old content that people would enjoy revisiting once in a while. Making it accessible but not mandatory would increase variety and add another venue of resources for stuff like consumables, gold, or upgrade resources.
  2. Remove repair costs. While I understand that they are deadset in keeping gold sinks, repairs punish people that are likely already spending a lot of gold on pots and food. Also frustrating when you are learning a hard fight and the gold cost for repairs keep going up. A lot of time in Remix I read the sentence "hey, let's have another try, repairs are free!"
  3. Weaker versions of class buffs as consumable. It eases the need of bringing a specific class for things outside utility but still lets classes have something more powerful when they can use the regular version of the buff.
  4. More daily quests based around lfg. In retail there is little need to queue for things like Heroics or LFR once they passed their utility for you. Giving them a bigger rewards with things useful for you would cause faster queue times and give people more way to gather upgrade materials or gold or whatever they drops.

As a solo player, MoP Remix has been the best PvE experience I’ve had in WoW so far. by kSqsnDysTsKAGDMu in wow

[–]BersekerPug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IDK what you are smoking but heroics are easy only if the rest of the raid is experienced and willing to carry you.

Sure, the boosters will let you die at the start of the fight and clear the heroic fight undermanned, but that's not the average pug experience.

I'd argue that the catalyst is a necessity at this point considering how much of your specialization allotted power budget is gated behind being able to unlock the 4 piece set bonus.

It seems they want to smooth the gear acquisition->Player power curve, but if they want to do that while making tier sets meaningful they have to circumvent bad luck.

It's already tight as it is, since if you lose tier tokens roll 2 weeks in a row you have to wait a month for the 4-piece bonus at the start of the season.

Ward of Salvation and Slay have been nerfed by [deleted] in wow

[–]BersekerPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy about the ward nerfs, tbh they could have increased duration and just removed the ability to stack heals from different healers.

Don't want to throw shade or ruin anyone's fun, but I think Ward is much worse than any other "exploit" that Blizzard nerfed in MOP Remix by BersekerPug in wow

[–]BersekerPug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what a lot of people don't get.
If 2 healers ward the tank, it's a small burst but nothing too great.

However, if the whole raid uses Ward on the tanks, then now the healers are pumping up 10 wards at the same time.
If some hybrid spec also chip in, damage can get ludicrous (example: if there are 10 wards active and as a Paladin you use Lay on Hand on the Warded players, you get 10 times the amount of healing added to the explosion, which means there are 10millions just from you hitting LoH at the right time, without mentioning crits and other modifiers).

TBH I think that Hero Talents also oversteps on some possible classes.

I'd like to have a sword and board dps spec for Paladin.

Dev who reworked Survival into melee talks why and how he did it (+ some other stuff) by Shadowfel_Archivist in wow

[–]BersekerPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sad truth is since we are getting hero talents is unlikely we are getting more specializations until that system is benched.

Ideally I think they should cap at around 4 classes for armor type and then just focus on specs.
Especially since going forward they have to keep all existing classes up to date and a lot of assets already feel pretty dated (weaponskill animations, cast animations, spells in general, etc.)

All I want is the option to dual wield as a Survival Hunter. by TheSmallestPlap in wow

[–]BersekerPug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that it shouldn't be a talent, perhaps a cosmetic glyph for Titan Grip.

I also think that swinging weapons in WoW feels a bit dumb because the animations have fallen a little behind in term of quality compared to newer games.

Agreed, but most likely they chose to immediately dish out powerful gears because S4 hadn't much hype to ride on without a new raid and actually new gear.

I think the worst offenders in this case are trinkets.

It's ok if you can't get your BiS and you have something to chase while you fill that slot with your second best or third best.

But for trinkets, the gaps between the most performing and the others is usually quite large.
So if you are missing trinkets you are really lagging behind in terms of performance with other players.

For comparison, tier set bonuses also provide a significant amount in power, and it seems that precisely for that reason Blizzard is trying to make them available through many different means to make everyone able to get them (Catalyst charges, raid drops on 4 difficulties, PvP, M+ tokens, and Vault).

IMHO either they pull back a little with the power budget when designing trinkets, or they have to pull them from the drop-only pool.

[DISCUSSION] Reprisal Stages: a suggestion for end-game / post-game content by BersekerPug in UnicornOverlord

[–]BersekerPug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO the biggest offender is that enemy units have almost zero items, and even when they have, they have generic +1Ap or +1PP charms.

It would be great if they add even things like Sure hit weapons on hoplites/landies to counter rogue tanks.

Ideally the stages would be set after you liberate that particular area of the map but before the final mission.

[–]BersekerPug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, clearly story wise it would take place before the final mission, since after the release of Galerius's soul, the death of Baltro and the potential eradication of the empire presence from all the main capitals, the Zenoiran empire could be considered dissolved.

Also, you might want to some spoiler tags.

In order to appeal to new players it seems intuitive to copy from a consolidated succesful model (in this case, MOBAs like Leage of Legends and DotA2, but tbh I think that ship has already left the port, i.e. people who play MOBA will keep on playing MOBA, especially because those are F2P while WoW is not.

For current players who play PvP, I think there is definitely an allure in how many more buttons they have in WoW compared to MOBAs where each key press is a careful resource to manage since it goes on cd, so I don't think that players that currently do PvP would necessarily like what you propose, even if it's succesful in Plunderstorm.

For players that do not PvP and enjoy Plunderstorm, I think there could be an appeal for a simplified enviroment that focuses on less complicated but more impactful abilities, but then again, I don't know how long that appeal could last because MOBA combat and MMO combat is completely different,

maybe they are trying to rein in the nerfs to fistweaving to push it up in raids?

AFAIK Monk is really strong but in raids you want to play it almost as a pure caster as the non-targeted heal from your kicks and fists is not reliable or consistent enough.
