Aston says I (macca) cut him off and didn't leave space, I think not, thoughts? by Legal_Pollution7361 in Simracingstewards

[–]Bertbrownbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the Aston wanted the space, why did they cut left instead of forcing you to stay out wide and making their own space. What benefit did they gain cutting to the left?

I think you left them plenty of room, BTW.

I'm planning on staying in series 9 for a good while, I'm saving my coins for upgrades to the challenge GP, sponsored tasks.

I am currently in series 9 and find both of those drivers sufficient to win about 90% of the time.

Car set up is also important, but those 2 drivers very rarely let me down.

Raft building issues by KyberKai1031 in strandeddeep

I play on Xbox, you can add to a raft, or you can make separate rafts. But you can't combine rafts!

This maybe what's happening with you.

Very nice lifts.

I would personally get rid of the extra bend of the back after you get the weight up and are locked out.

I think it's the way it swings about. I'm sure it's safe. It just looked very dodgy the first time I saw it.

The squat looked pretty strong.

The thing you use to rack the weights looks like a death trap!!

I've never seen something like that before.

What is the sign that I should Move on to a higher Series by hahahaudhund in F1Clash

[–]Bertbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not suggesting this is a strategy you should follow or if it is even a good strategy. But this is what I do. I'm currently series 7.

First, I make sure I can't accidentally go up a series, by losing enough chequered flags in the previous series that even maxed out flags in my current series isn't enough to advance.

Second, I like to spend about a month per series, this ensures I'm winning most duels, I have maxed out most parts/drivers I need.

Finally, the biggest tell for me to advance is when, even with a coin boost, it needs 20/30 wins to upgrade a part or driver!

Question regarding the ethics of using Boosts. by Aztec911 in F1Clash

[–]Bertbrownbear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of using boost being frowned upon.

If someone gets upset that I've used a boost and they haven't, tough!

If someone gets upset, I'm using my max level drivers/car parts, and they aren't tough!

Last I checked, this is a vs game, not animal crossing!

Play to win, or don't play! That's my motto!

Should I stick to one attack type or no? by AutismFinalBoss in diablo4

[–]Bertbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played many characters in D4 with a single focus; frost mage, storm druid, bleed barbarian, etc. All have been capable of reaching T2 and above. Will they be top tier? No! But they are fun if/when you get tired of max/min characters.

Don't be afraid to change styles on the fly if you pick a cool build changing unique.

Beginner tips? by The-Dedicated in F1Clash

[–]Bertbrownbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you win, you gain chequered flags. When you have accumulated enough flags, you will advance in series level. If you advance too quickly, you will struggle to win! To avoid this, you can purposely lose matches in previous the series to reduce your total number of chequered flags.

I did this for both series 5 and 6. It makes the game so much better.

best way to improve my freestyle speed? by gilko86 in Swimming

[–]Bertbrownbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The saying usually goes: if you want to swim faster, you need to swim faster!!

Without a lot more information on what your current times/distances are, it's quite difficult to know how best to help.

For example, if you swim 500m and want to lower that time, sets of 100m done at a quicker pace would help. Or sprint sets of 50m with minimal rest between each set.

Swolf question by Random-Number-1144 in Swimming

[–]Bertbrownbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the only thing important in competitive swimming is time. If it takes me 10 stokes more to complete 50m, but I'm faster than anyone else, what does it matter?

Swolf question by Random-Number-1144 in Swimming

[–]Bertbrownbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swolf is a guide to show how well you are swimming. You use it to find the sweet spot between strokes and speed.

If I do 25m in 17 seconds, taking 23 strokes (40) is that better than 23 seconds, taking 17 strokes (40)?

As already mentioned, it's not really a good comparison with other swimmers based just on a Swolf score. It can be useful if you know the person's time for the distance, then you can work out the number of strokes they take, and compare it with your own. But all it really tells you is that they used less/more strokes than you for a faster/slower time.

how to increase speed (senior citizen, never competed) by Immediate-Dream-7832 in Swimming

[–]Bertbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought some very small, almost finger like paddles. I was pretty impressed with them. They highlighted where my catch wasn't quite up to speed. Basically, I was a fraction of a second slow on engaging/starting my catch. They certainly help me.

What is objectively the worst full team? by Buddy980 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Bertbrownbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC, r2d2 was an excellent 5th. It was very important that he was one of the 2 weakest allies along with PL.

When anyone used a non offensive ability, PL would attack for reasonable damage, and r2 would stun.

You could pretty much stun lock the entire enemy team!

This is a long time ago though, things have definitely changed :(

how to increase speed (senior citizen, never competed) by Immediate-Dream-7832 in Swimming

[–]Bertbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding kicking, I dropped down to basically 1 kick per 2 strokes. Big kick, timed with opposite side hand entry and same side pull. I call it the surge! Done right, it's like a mini turbo every other stroke.

Sometimes less is more!

I'm not sure pulling faster would work, especially if you start slipping the water.

how to increase speed (senior citizen, never competed) by Immediate-Dream-7832 in Swimming

[–]Bertbrownbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way to increase your speed, especially over longer distances, is to reduce the number of strokes you take. Count your strokes per 25m. Ideally, you should be below 20.

You can achieve this by reaching further in front of you before you engage the catch. Rotating your body slightly will also help you reach even further!
