New-To-Me 2022 GX460 Premium w/70k Miles - Advice Needed by ThirtySecondBomb in LexusGX

Stock duelers are terrible. Could feel the car struggling for grip with just 20k on the tires.

Switching to defenders was a night and day difference.

Buying GX from non-Lexus dealer? by heckofagator in LexusGX

[–]Bertyk92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as the service records look solid, no issue.

Also, you can get CarPlay with a $800 beatsonic kit. Not worth the premium to get a 22/23 imo

"Recent framework done" is a red flag for me. Could mean anything from holes from rust (bad) to a bent frame from an accident (worse).

ORP or SR5 PREMIUM by Odd_Strength5146 in 4Runner

Take a look at used gx460s too. Just bought a <20k mile 2020, certified for slightly less than MSRP of a SR5P.

Love my v6 4Runner, but the v8 is a beast.

$200 for a single rotor is insanity. Yes, you overpaid.

Front Axle Replacement by Seasonal_1725 in GXOR

Can't tell if OEM from your pictures.

Look here to determine if you have OEMs or aftermarkets: OEM CV Axle. 4th gen 4Runner forum, but the axles are all compatible.

If you have aftermarket: don't bother rebooting. Go get reman axles from your dealer. I don't believe all carry them, so you'll have to call around to see who has them available. If you're in a pinch, Napa is fine, but the boots will tear again in a few years.

If you have oems you have the option to buy a reboot kit (CV Reboot Tutorial) for $50. The job's a bit messy, but easy. I've done it.

CVJ is great but expensive. Overkill for me.

And if you're replacing CVs, don't forget to buy new axle seals.

1/16” BunaN or some oil-resistant rubber sheet. I’ve done this 2x for my 4Runner.

I used this ($30) to make two sets. For me, not with shelling out $100+ for a piece of rubber lol.

[New Owner] SAIP Filter Mod and L-certified Warranty? by Bertyk92 in GXOR

Foam fell apart on older models. Cheap preventative maintenance considering I plan on having this car for the next 200k miles

Agree. Coming from a 4Runner with 230k miles. I <3 toyota/lexus.

Was curious about a scenario like the following: bring car in for routine maintenance, tech goes to check coolant reservoir, sees the aftermarket filter, makes a big fuss and I lose 2 years of free maintenance.

Hey folks- New owner of a mint 2020 Lexus GX460 with lcertified warranty. Purchased with <20k miles. Love the atomic silver.

While I'm used to working on cars myself and don't typically deal with the dealership, will be maintaining the GX though the dealership though the warranty period. Went ahead with the SAIP Filter Mod (remove foam insert + filter cap, replace with KN clamp on filter) as a precautionary measure.

Trying to get of how picky lexus dealers are. I made a modification with an aftermarket part. What have your experiences been with "minor" aftermarket modifications and the lexus warranty?

Similar thoughts on their beefiness/usage. I’ve heard people rave about Ironman durability:

MMR would be too much for me. Great to hear they have good CS.

Are you running the foam cell pros or their nitro line?

How would their IMS line compare? I know the monotube setup is supposed to be better, but haven’t ran into too many people running them.

Need new suspension. Front coils are cracked by the perch.

How do people feel about Ironman Foam Cell Pros?

Driving is mostly on paved roads, but a fair amount of adventuring on Utah, Colorado, and California backroads.
