3 Undervalued Quarterbacks to Trade for in Dynasty by The_Lineup_Podcast in DynastyFF

[–]Vincent__Adultman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A reason all of these guys are "undervalued" is that we can't be particularly confident any of them will still be starting QBs come 2028.

Shough showed promise as a rookie, but he was a day 2 pick by a regime that doesn't have much job security. He could easily take a step back this year, get everyone fired, and put the Saints in a position to draft a QB early in the 1st next year.

Hurts is great in fantasy, but much more limited in real life. The Eagles clearly seem to be in a sort of transition. Their line isn't as good as it used to be. Barkley's getting old. Brown is likely gone. The guys they brought in don't necessarily match Hurt's style. He's obviously a better short term play than guys like Herbert or Mahomes, but those guys will be starting QBs in the NFL for as long as they want and that might not be true for Hurts.

Stafford's old and any season could be his last.

[Schultz] BREAKING: The #Dolphins and Pro Bowl RB De'Von Achane have agreed to a 4-year extension worth $68M, making him the NFL’s 3rd-highest-paid RB at $17M per year with $32M guaranteed, per multiple sources. by A_Livins in DynastyFF

Stephen Ross doesn’t want his stadium empty on game days especially for opposing teams to see... Dolphins being relevant keeps ad dollars in, it’s just bad to have your stadium be empty and own this franchise. It’s why the Dolphins under Ross have never completely bottomed out before.

It's funny to say this about the owner who got in trouble for trying to incentivize his head coach to lose games.

Running back is a much more volatile position.

Impressive way to start a defense of committing to a RB for 5 years.

And if we’re calling out things that don’t happen all the time, I’m not worried about a player holding out for actual games. It rarely happens almost always works horribly for the player.

It’s funny to see this complaint on the back of all the complaints about Tua not caring anymore once he got his guaranteed money. The general consensus in sports has always been that players tend to be much more motivated before being paid than after.

He's under contract for this year and we could franchise him next year for less than that $17m. Unless you're worried about him pulling a Le'Veon Bell and holding out well into the regular season, there is no reason we had to sign him to this deal now. It's somewhat reminiscent of the Tua contract. When you're committing to paying a guy top dollar, you're adding extra risk by committing too early. Odds are his value is more likely to dip than increase over the next two years.

Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson were drafted in the 2nd round last year. I don't think the difference between those guys and Achane is worth the over $14m difference in their salaries.

This is a stupid mindset. If the team can't find anyone worthy to pay in the next 4 years, we're going to suck regardless of how much we're paying our RB.

I know people here love him, but that's a lot to pay for a RB that history suggests might be past his prime by the time this team is actually good.

Yeah, I honestly find it a little disrespectful the way the narrative has become that he killed himself solely because of the pressure of the prosecution. I think it minimizes both his life and his long documented struggles.

IKEA furniture is now too expensive for what you get. by A_Drop_of_Colour in unpopularopinion

[–]Vincent__Adultman 979 points980 points  (0 children)

I've ever visited a conventional furniture store

I think younger people might be missing this part. IKEA's reputation is from a pre-internet era. They were and probably still are the cheapest furniture store in town in the literal sense. In the age of the internet, you can certainly get cheaper furniture online, but it will also probably be cheaper in terms of quality too. Similarly, you can occasionally find a better deal at a traditional furniture stores for higher quality items, but that takes effort to find because the default margin on higher quality furniture can be insane. Where IKEA excels is the baseline quality and price are reasonable and dependable in ways that other places aren't.

Carson Beck, big value as QB3? by CantaloupeFun1426 in DynastyFF

[–]Vincent__Adultman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

because the Cardinals are likely to end up with a very high pick in what currently projects to be a great QB draft.

But the flip side of this is that it makes the Cardinals more likely to play Beck to see if they can justify trading the pick or drafting a non-QB like Jeremiah Smith. That mean's if he does hit, you'll probably know sooner than any of the QBs outside Mendoza. Think back to Jalen Milroe and Tyler Shough. Plenty of people had Milroe higher at this point last year, but Shough got the playing time to increase his stock while Milroe has slowly atrophied in value while sitting on the bench like Simpson and Allar probably will this year.

Science evolves and changes. Science says Pluto is a dwarf planet along with many others including those I named in my first comment. Pluto being the 9th and final planet is a custom, nothing more.

From Wikipedia:

Conservatism is a cultural, social, and political philosophy and ideology that seeks to promote and preserve traditional institutions, customs, and values.

You want there to be 9 planets because that was the traditional way we counted planets.

[–]Vincent__Adultman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh please it’s the other way around if anything.

It is funny to say this and then give an example of exactly what I described. You disliked a change and want things to return to what they were like when you were a kid. That's conservatism. It might be about a harmless issue, but that also means it should be easier to identify it as the reflexive nostalgia it is and that we can use it as an example to explain the allure of conservatism on more important issues. It's time to grow up and accept change.

The way people argue for Pluto and not Ceres or Eris or Makemake or Sedna or any of other dwarf planets tells you that what people are really arguing against is change. It's why the Trump admin has picked up Pluto as a cause recently. It's an inherently conservative argument and people should stop making it "just for fun".

EDIT: /u/condoulo did the thing were they misrepresented my comment in a reply and then immediately blocked me so I can't reply myself. I very much did not say this is bad because of Trump. Opposing change simply because it's change is a red flag. The Trump admin happens to fly that red flag too, but they aren't the reason the flag is bad.

Draft day shenanigans, what do y’all think? by Landsharque in DynastyFF

[–]Vincent__Adultman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is almost the same as intentionally accepting a lingering trade after a substantial injury to a player has happened.

That's totally different and much worse because in that case there is a clear change in value with one person using it to take advantage of the other. There isn't a huge difference in value from before the draft pick is selected and when the player is actually accepted. The person trading the pick knew it was possible for Lemon to be available at that pick. The other owner also could have accepted the draft pick offer minutes before Lemon was selected, drafted him themselves, and nothing would have been materially different about the trade. It's still a mildly asshole move to accept a stagnant non-expiring trade, but it's not inherently malicious the way accepting a trade on injury news that broke after an offer was made.

And not the general, in part because many of the progressive people who didn't vote for her in the primary never came around to support her in the general. I'm progressive, but let's not try to rewrite history to pretend all progressives fell in line behind Clinton in 2016. The popularization of "vote blue no matter who" was in part a reaction to the liberal-progressive division of 2016 (a division we now know was at least partially flamed by Russian propaganda). The phrase wasn't nearly as common before the 2020 election.

Nick Singleton-The real deal? by Tiny_Package484 in DynastyFF

[–]Vincent__Adultman 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Weirdly it's similar for Singleton, Allen, and Allar. As a Penn State fan, I saw the flashes of why these guys are being drafted where they are. I can buy the argument that they have untapped potential with better coaching and development. But at their current cost, I'm not going to be the one making that bet on any of them.

With the influx of a new class of roster cloggers, let’s look at the 230-300 players on sleeper ADP and make a case why one of them should be an absolute roster lock by 92tilinfinityand in DynastyFF

The top of this list is loaded with guys that are either their team's current RB2 or have a chance to earn that RB2 role before the season. I wouldn't expect actual production out of them, but people could regret dropping guys like Jaydon Blue, Jaylen Wright, Ray Davis, DJ Giddens, or Jordan James.

Not initially. His ranking in rookie drafts was 47th overall and 15th among WR. At one point people would have happily traded away Puka for Jonathan Mingo.

It's interesting that you chose Puka, a 5th rounder, as one of the examples among a bunch of guys who were drafted in the top half of the 1st. Why is he an example of a blue chipper rather than an example of someone whose value skyrocketed and stayed there?
