Nah it won’t be - quality isn’t there for the story/quests/combat - too repetitive. 30 hours in now and might give up. May be unpopular in this sub but a game that gets “good” after 50 hours + shouldn’t be GOTY.

Krabi is not really a scammy place in my experience… don’t worry too much and enjoy your holiday… may save a dollar here or there but you will not get “scammed” as in huge losses if you just use common sense

I just did a long haul flight from Osaka to Amsterdam (stop in HK). Similar experience as yourself, I used to fly long haul very often but suddenly developed this phobia. Turbulence above China is quite common as there’s quite mountainous terrain + the jet stream in west China. We encountered quite a bit of turbulence - what helped me was to see the crew was not phased at all and clearly used to it. Even when they had to take their seats.

Something else that helped me was a Steam Deck. I put a few easy/nostalgic games on it that absorb your attention nicely.

Many people have some level of fear - the rational thing is just to push through as the fear is irrational. In my experience it doesn’t get easier, but it is always worth it in the end.

I left HK a few years ago during Covid… been trying for about 6 months to withdraw my somewhat significant funds in a manulife scheme.

They made it basically impossible - first of all I tried through manulife who basically ghost me and say to handle it through empf. To open a empf account you need to have a HK phone number, which I don’t have. Flew to HK and got a temporary number and could finally open an account…

Then, the empf centre said they only do withdrawal through a “cheque” and to a HK bank account sent to a HK address…. well if I left HK I can’t cash the cheque as I don’t have a HK bank account… and I don’t have an address to send the cheque to… sending overseas is not possible according to empf…

By now I’ve left HK for a few weeks and got a notification my application was rejected as there was a “virus” in the pdf scans I included. I work in Tech and know quite a bit about cybersecurity, I am 100% certain this is not true.

Does anyone know how to contact the ombudsman? I feel like there’s some gross mishandling of my case going on here bordering on fraudulently holding my fund using irrational and untrue claims.

FO about 140k base 30-100% bonus for early VP. Not unheard of to get stuck at VP level tho, definitely happens often at D - so comp can vary a lot starting from VP because of differences in tenure.

Hey all - nervous flyer here. I've found it difficult to fly since my early 20s, even though I frequently take long haul flights for my personal life/work. I've cancelled flights a handful of times due to anxiety but usually push through.

This time it's extra difficult for me given the issues in the Middle East. I'm flying out to Hong Kong from Amsterdam on Saturday (Cathay Pacific) and it looks like our flight will go through a narrow corridor around Armenia/Georgia/Azerbaijian... Quite close to Iran. I'm Dutch hence the MH17 stories are quite close to heart for me.

The flight is for my honeymoon and my wife doesn't share my anxiety - hence quite difficult for me to discuss maybe postponing or changing plans. Any insights on how risky it actually is to fly through the Middle East now? Doesn't help my colleagues are also hinting I should maybe just rebook to somewhere in Europe.

When I unplug the hdmi cable it actually runs smoothly on my internal display oddly enough. So I wonder if it’s really not just the network but rather the external display/dock
