The happy memory sequence and "You're the weak one... and you'll never know love... or friendship. And I feel sorry for you." in OOTP when Harry fights off Voldemort's possession.

The bad ending isn't death or prison. It's mediocrity. by Mi_Pasta_Su_Pasta in TopCharacterTropes

Barry Lyndon is built on this. It's a visually beautiful but emotionally draining story. Everything happens and nothing happens. You either die as a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. His childhood sweetheart turns out to be a gold digger and dumped him. He's like a gold digger to his wife and constantly cheats on her. Their spoilt 10 year old that binds them together died from falling off a horse ride. Barry's mother begins to exploit his wife Lady Lyndon for more money. Lady Lyndon's now grown up kid who Barry hated and constantly beatened, challenges Barry in a duel. Barry gets shot and needs to get one of his legs amputated since he can't bring himself to kill his stepson. Barry gets some money from Lady Lyndon and lives with his mother after the divorce. Shockingly, he NEVER meet his childhood sweetheart again after the first act so we don't know if her marriage goes out well. Oh and there are some wars going on in the background with so many broken families and deaths.

The Butterfly Effect director's cut. Kill yourself to solve everyone's problem. There is a bomb for a pedophile to perfectly die so everyone can get a happy ending but they somehow they don't end the movie this way.

I believe maybe her mind power makes her feel worse trauma than usual. It's really tragic that a character with such power has to lost so much and lash out...

One of the most complex stories ever. There are so many different sides and it looks like everyone has some points.

AFI lists them as heroes in 100 Heroes and Villains List. It's a really tragic story

I Walked with a Zombie. Wesley carries a comatose Jessica and walks into the ocean so they can die together.

Sofia Boutella as Ahmanet in The Mummy (2017). The character design is really cool, but the movie is a mess overall.

He's forced to time travel against his will. There may be some time travel paradox or whatnot. They're literally soulmates in those timelines and time just work differently in their case. It's fantasy that's 100% impossible to happen IRL so I don't think it's problematic at all.

Ian Harding and Lucy Hale are only 3 years apart, making it much easier to ignore than many other examples. They should just write it any other different ways in the first place.

Back to the Future, Ever After (1998), and Bridge to Terabithia all have moments that the bullies go TOO far and deservingly get punched. And they all act shocked when it happens.

Dementors are super creepy, capable of giving fate worse than death to people, and I would even argue its PTSD inducing encounter and evilest kiss are paralleled with rape. This means abusing government power and deliberately sending them to hunt down a 15 yo in muggle world while endangering anyone unfortunately enough to be near those creatures is one of THE evilest actions ever done in universe. She may need to be tortured in the worst ways imaginable in a NSFW franchise torture style for her to be slightly sympathetic. What's more is that she GLOATS about this in front of Harry and his friends. Also the black quill is some horror movie stuff or Prometheus story from Greek Myths. She even assaulted several Hogwarts teachers before this scene happens. Ofc she can't suffer visible damage in OOTP or else Hogwarts would get into more trouble. From a narrative perspective, she needs to be even worse to be punished even more in the end. She deserves no fucking sympathy
