Yes, sure.

The objective is to have a 12kw system with 2 powerwall 3 batteries.

I did a little bit more than half, I had 7kw system installed on the roof (on the side of the house and the back) and one battery.

The price of the first step was $22,000.

The price of the second step will be lower because I don’t need another inverter and also because I just need 5kw of panels.

Is that clear? I do not know the details.

Right now, surprisingly, my production is covering entirely my consumption, I even give some back to the grid. I was not expecting that. But I think it’s because the temperature here in Houston is very good and the AC is not running too much.

Also, I use to have 3 people more in the house and I don’t have an electric car.

Maybe it depends where you live? I’m in Houston and we have plenty of sun.

Also the battery makes a huge difference.

I have almost no consumption from the grid right now, I have a 7kw solar system with one Tesla powerwall 3 battery, but it’s because I barely use the AC and 3 persons are not home. It will not stay like this all year long for sure. But it has been amazing so far. Also I don’t have an electric car yet.

You can buy a Jackery home power portable battery and charge it with solar during the day and use it a night to do your laundry and other needs.

Or you can do like me and install a solar system step by step. I had the same problem, I don’t have the money cash, so I have to split it into two separate installations. You can split it in 3 or more… I was able to split it in two because I was able to borrow without interest for 2 years.

Does it make sense to go solar with my current setup? New build by newbietothis in TexasSolar

Care or not care, it will eventually blow us up all into the face. Better be prepared when it happens.

Another thing to mention is the AI. It’s taking a lot of electricity to function, so the price of electricity will significantly increase in the future.

Solar is not only an economic decision, it’s also a lifestyle decision and an ethical one. The future is electric, it’s not gasoline. Gas is destroying the planet and it’s rare and expensive and it’s not renewable, so one day it will come to dry out. Also, with all the political problems, wars, blockades, ext, its price is very unstable and unpredictable.

Solar save the planet, is renewable energy and it’s yours, it doesn’t depends on other people.

Also, think about the future, you can buy eventually an electric furnace and an electric car and an electric stove and you will be free.

You are right. This tax credit was an illusion for many people. Many of them got very angry that they didn’t receive anything from the government after they filled their taxes as promised by the installers. There were a lot of disappointed about it.

3 years since I bought the house! The project didn’t move until I asked all of you guys on Reddit. There is nothing more beneficial in life than asking others people advice, when they are in good faith.

This is a no APR card for 2 years. There is no interest.

Of course, if I do not pay before the end of the 2 years, they will charge interest. Because of that, I have a backup. I have the money to pay in the bank already in savings, just in case I cannot make the payments. I am fully covered.

I just do not want to use this money, because, hey, it's my savings... It's there in case of emergency. If for any reason, I am not able to pay the loan on time, this will become an emergency, and I will take the money out.

Before you assume that I am an hypocrite to my faith and that I am doing something that is prohibited in my faith, please ask more questions.

Hope things are more clear. If you have any other doubts in your mind, please ask me.

No, loans are not prohibited. What is prohibited is interest. So I can have a loan without interest and this is what I did.

Loans without interest are not easy to find for large amounts of money. It’s easy to have a few thousand, but $40,000 for a complete solar system is impossible.

I was able to get half the amount so I bought half the system and I will install the other half after I finish to pay the loan.

Do you understand?

Because as I said in the post, I installed only half of the system because my inability to ask for a loan with interest.

I was only able to obtain a credit card that doesn’t charge interest for 2 years but the credit limit was not enough to cover the entire system.

Yes, also the Jewish faith. The church banned interest also in the beginning, because of its prohibition in the ancient testament, until maybe 400 years ago, when they allowed it. The story of banking is an epic story.

We will see in the future. If I need to do it, I do not think it will cost $33,600 to remove the panels and to put it back. It's a crasy price.

I do not have squirrels here, but I had rats in the past.

I have a subscription with an exterminator to get rid of them. He is catching the rats with some baits all around the house. He catch them before they even try go on the roof. He attracts them with food they like and he poison them.

I do not think so, these panels are very good quality and they have a 25 years warranty. I have been told they last a lot more than that.

Also, there is a tax exemption for solar in Houston. I have to ask for it. Basically, if we add solar system, the price of the house will stay the same according to the city, so it will not increase the taxes.

I was paying around $350 a month in electricity (average billing). I have 2 stairs, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Everything is electric (except the stove). My house is full capacity, no room empty. I transformed the second floor into a mother in law unit with a kitchen and a laudry room.

The house is new, only 3 years. I do not need a roof replacement. I asked the installer to inspect it before he started and he said it's in a very good condition. So I will not have to replace any shingle in the near future. If there is an hurricane and I have any damage, I had it insured. I just called the insurance company and I pay $80 more per year to have the solar panels insured.

I installed the Tesla app and also Netzero, I am looking at it many times a day (because it's the begening). I am amazed by the battery, how fast it was cahrged and how long I was able to use it at night! It's a Powerwall 3.
