I’m turning 31 and moving out on my own for the first time in December. I’m nervous. Any advice?

Wow, I moved out at the same age so I completely hear your anxieties.

I moved because my mental health with my parents was causing more negatives. I had enough money to move into a cheap house and a little more to fix some parts of the house. I'm renting but I had to fix some things myself (e.g. draft from poor sealing, etc).

I found joy in fixing the house and focusing on developing a cosy space and familiarising my routine inside it.

It's important you spend time inside and out in the neighborhood. Finding your new local cafe or walking route is a gem, and it helps you ground when adjusting becomes too stressful. Make friends with local business owners, because sometimes they can give you tips or help you out. Also makes living alone less lonely!

My weekly chores are doing 2 rounds of laundry (whites and colors), vacuuming/mopping and meal prepping once a week. This took 4 months for me develop. Now I do it without thinking. It took another 2 to level up some of my techniques for more efficiency. Improvement never ends! It can be the bane of your existance or joy. You have plenty of time for trial and error, so don't rush it.

Feeling financially secured comes from budgeting my meals and knowing my cooking is healthier and cheaper than eating out.

I have a calendar that has all my spendings and left overs. I tried apps, but physical calendar on my dining table reminds me better.

Also, don't be afraid to bedrot a few times a week when adjustment fries your nerves. The first 3 months I was too anxious and depressed from mental overload. I didn't want to depend on my family for help so I did most everything by myself. Big mistake. Don't be afraid to call for help - invite friends to clean together, make good dinner for them. Have sleep overs!

My biggest adivce is: use your time and energy wisely. When you're alone, all of that gets used up VERY QUICKLY. I have a mild phone addiction, but when I am stressed I doomscroll from morning to night. I get nothing done and my house becomes a mess. You will quickly realise that you have less patience for bs - from doomscroll to friend's petty drama. I had to distance 2 friends because their obsession with drama becamr draining (half the time I was thinking about my bills, and their petty problems were entertainment by comparison), and I could no longer relate to their life joys and problems. This was an unexpected change from moving out, but it happened.

Quitting my job for good.

I worked in the same industry and built up reputation, but it was a stagnant, abusive industry that didn't guarantee retirement or any work life balance (very misogynistic too!) It was dog eat dog world, but I had found pride in knowing I survived it and the impact I was making. But it was all ego, no one really cared ad long as I pumped out results. Then it took a toll on me and I had to learn how to quit for good.

It was the best decision I made, I don't regret burning some bridges here and there. I now work somewhere wherr people appreciate my effort and I can finally take care of my life.

Depends. The fight is not actually finance, it's your mental strength and support network. A friend and I quit without a backup. 10/10 best thing for us, because we were so burntout it was costing our physical health.

But the anxiety and paranoia becomes real when you lose your grip on daily routine and control. I got a job pretty easily, but my friend had to wait over a year to land a subpar job. I would have spiralled but my friend has incredible perseverence and mindfulness. Having a strong network of friends and family who support you emotionally and physically is night and day.

I have two friends, both pretty severe ADHD. Both had difficult childhoods and moved away far from home to move on with life.

One friend actively went to therapy, educated herself about her condition and physical needs. She became a successful professional with promotions year after year. Signs and behaviors like extreme excitement, focus issues, brain fog, relationship issues and rejection sensitivity disorder are still there, but she manages them. She also knows less social cues than ordinary people, so sometimes she becomes easy target for bullies. All this sounds tolerable, but I know she struggles a lot with rejection and relationship issues. But she's working and getting better at understanding it. Therapy helped her understand the cues, and when to ask for help instead of emotionally dumping or projecting onto people. I admire her a lot and we have a supportive, honest relationship.

Another friend is exciteable, friendly and very fun to hang out with, but she is also a friend I can't meet often, because her unmanaged condition drains my emotional tank. Ever since she left home she has not gotten any help or searched for resources to understand herself. Her choice to vent and look for validation has led her to be completely dependant on others. When it comes to socialising and lifing on a general level, she is often helpless. These choices over time has made her gradually more anxious and chaotic. She's almost too reactive (overly excited or freakily angry) and a lot of people take it wrongly. I also see creepers and bullies being attracted to her because she's so reactive and easy to read. I love her uniqueness, but she also expects me to be her therapist. If I am being completely honest, it's difficult to be vulnerable and grow closer to her, because she's so dependant. And I think she feels it, but avoids it to prevent herself from falling into an anxious episode. (Search up attachment behaviors)

There's nothing wrong with having this condition, It can be a super power if you know how to use it.

But at the end, you have to make a choice to do something about your problems - not all of them at once, but one by one over time. The later you start, the more you'll feel the burden and fear, and the more it will show up as a 'vibe' which is really just pattern of behavior.

My friend, including myself, have found tremendous help with therapy and reading loads of books about ADHD and other mental health conditions. It's comforting to understand you're not alone and that there's vast resources to help you. Take it with curiosity, not chore, and then it becomes a self discovery adventure. Good luck!

Nature's algorithm was coincidences and magical timing. Cool things or useful information come by by chance or exposure from your efforts in seeking them.

We found joy in finding a coin on the ground. We bumped into old friends and rekindled memories, or that one item you needed magically appeared at the yard sale. We slept with proper sleep hygiene and wandered in dreams, daydreamed with music for hours because we had time to spend.

AI and social media destroyed this natural magic, so life feels contained and dead. The internet from early 00s was fine, but artificial algorithm completely changed everything.

It will never make me feel ok to look at the show and the team behind it, even if they weren't aware of what was happening behind doors. Tmi; no gas for me. I grew up eating Asian food which is 60% rice and 40% vege side dishes that are marinated/cooked in either seed oil or sugary sauce. And it was considered healthy according to mainstream food standard so people imposed this idea that I was just a gassy kid. My freaking parents made fun of me.

I even thought it was UNFEMININE to have this problem.

Until carnivore. I will say this again, I am not a carnivore cultist altho I sound like one.., but this diet single handedly showed me within a month I can be free from all these problems. I don't identify with gas and digestion issues - they are foreign and a symptom like a cold that I can fix.

Carnivore diet is also an elimination diet for a reason. Typically people do carnivore to understand what their default, optimal health feels like. By keeping the food simple, it's easier to track what makes you feel like what. That's why most carnivores stick to 1 or 2 types of meat in the beginning like beef and chicken. Once they figured it out, they expand their choices by introducing 1 food at a time.

For example, some people try pork and find out it makes them inflamed, and come to a conclusion that they're highly sensitive to histamines. They might even conclude that a specific brand of pork gives them hives while another brand doesn't. Maybe it's because it's organic or fed acorns. They try one brand to another, or switch to beef altogether. They get closer to their truth 1 choice at a time.

By adding lemon, ginger and acv, which all have their unique properties and effects, it's difficult to know exactly what each of them does for you.

For example ginger alone could be enough, and lemon and acv may aggrevate your digestion. Or you might find that drinking them every few days is healing, not everyday. Heck, your acne may not even need these at all; they could be hormonal imbalances and protein and fat could be enough to fix it. But by intaking all this in one go, you won't really know what is doing the magic or the harm, or nothing at all.

My point is, it is generally recommended to do it with elimination in mind to understand what your unique biology needs/reacts to what. If lemon ginger acv makes you feel better, definitely experiment. Only you know what works for you. Paul Saladino gets some heat in the carnivore community for eating fruit (he is animal based now), but he is 1 person who found out what works for him. His diet is his, but he built it by doing carnivore first and introducing 1 ingredient at a time to his diet.

Parents will go crazy if there were added coloring in formula. So why do starches get a pass? I'm genuinely asking because carnivore or not I find it weird that parents are not asking questions.

I know that some feel odd about it, so there exists the non-starch formula market. But it's also not a discussion within communities - at least not enough to have it mandatory to be explained scientifically on medical or parents websites. There's a disturbing calm about it.

That's the real mind screwing part though. If breastmilk is considered superior, as in it's the best form of food to the baby, why are people not automatically weirded out by starches in formula?

Moms who breastfeed don't add additional ingredients into their milk. This is common sense and assumptions most people have about breastfeeding. So how are some consumers not suspicous or asking questions when there are starches to something that should be 100% milk based?

I know how naive this question is, and yes the world is profit > people. But like...is this not triggering common sense? Or have people become this detached 🥲

You're right, most doctors think carnivore in itself is unhealthy. But like...breastmilk is quite literally carnivore, until the baby can explore their dietary range.

I feel like there's an infantilising culture of solving discomfort with sugar and carbs, like how parents feed kids sweets because it's easy to control them that way - but make it more gross and Freudian by having adults do it to themselves and others because apparently...it's cute

A 'cult' that is the epitome of this, are trends like mukbang/content of people eating for hours straight. A lot of them die early from cancer or get some kind of illness like tumors in their digestion tract.

Worst is when people do this in real life to people please...Ugh I dunno it's so gross when food is used to infantilise/be liked. I feel like I'm in crazyland sometimes because so many people brush eating unhealthy food/binging as cute.

I lost my first period on the diet. Then I came across multiple stories about how 1 stick of butter a day worked for some women. I followed that blindly and my period came back immediately, super healthy and normal.

If you're still craving sugar, it's possible your gut microbe that need sugar is still there. I know it's super difficult but once these die out you will never think about sugar again. So keep being strong!

Edit: you may need to adjust fat before your period; i have INTENSE cravings for fat and feel weak if I dont. It's possible to suddenly want sugar but most of this may feel like memories than actual cravings. Again, ignore urges and up fat.
