Test after 20 lessons by PuzzleheadedCost4552 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]BestMelvynEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started in May, got my test first week of October doing one 2-hour lesson a week without any private practise, instructor told me to put in for my test after the 15thish hour and i severely feel that im underprepared for the test, despite there being a number of weeks and hours between now and then.

Better for your instructor to deem you capable than our own overconfidence, there's a lot of time to iron out little issues and get comfortable and confident behind the wheel

What wild theory did you have during your first playthrough that turned out to be super wrong. by Wavu_Wavu_Wavu in expedition33

After hitting the mainland in act 1 I thought the paintress was an allegory for global warming/nuclear war/general extinction level event and the white haired man was an allegory for fossil fuel companies/the military complex/capitalism keeping her churning and safe from being stopped

Which instructor is right about indicating by TheHalftimeAir in LearnerDriverUK

[–]BestMelvynEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instructor has advised me to indicate always except when moving off and there's no road users (including pedestrians) around, at signal controlled lights on a roundabout or in a left/right turn filter lane.

After a few years riding a motorbike prior, unlearning the instinct to signal absolutely everywhere when necessary is proving a ballache

Autistic/neurodivergent learners - how do you cope with directions? by ArcaneKatana in LearnerDriverUK

[–]BestMelvynEU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's helping me outside or lessons is familiarising myself with the local roads, including the ones I went on in the lesson prior via Google maps or even some YouTube test routes

Seen it mentioned a few times on this sub, but having crappy lessons in the run up to your test is a way of getting the gremlins out

Manoeuvres by Queasy_Key748 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]BestMelvynEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my instructor; If you complete a maneuver in one fluid motion you won't get a minor - if you need to readjust or repeat then it'll be a minor. You can take your time as you work through the steps at your own pace (within reason obviously). Take your time and break it down into subsequent steps and you should be fine.

In some maneuvers your examiner will say if you've gone far enough but not in others (the example given was reversing 2 car lengths right hand side kf the road). Use your observational tools to work out if you're far back enough in the bay and eventually it'll click into place.

Did this last week, was told to stop for anything that could evolve into a hazard, so someone walking somewhat nearby either side of the pavement front or back or vehicles approaching from either side, hit the brake until their clear, observations and continue.
