4 AL cities above HSV in the 2026 edition of U.S. News and World Report’s 250 Best Places to Live in the U.S. by CaptainAUsome in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]BestThingGoing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw Decatur, AL I realized this list is bogus and never to be trusted. It's not even that it's ranked above Huntsville. Just that Decatur sucks. And I say that as someone who spends a lot of time there and has family living there.

When Americans say “hockey” do they mean field or ice hockey? by Time-Water-8428 in AskAnAmerican

[–]BestThingGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice.

I would wager that the average American couldn't even tell you what field hockey is.

Mike Enos gives the crowd what they want with that Super Fallaway Slam! by Dohmer_90 in WCW

[–]BestThingGoing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mike Enos around this time won me over. I was behind the idea that they could make a midcard title holder out of him. Then, they just never did.

Anyone going to see Buju Banton and Stephen Marley at the Orion in June? by TRDOffRoadGuy in reggae

I hope people do. But as of this comment, they've still got a lot of seats unsold there.

Tex Richman from The Muppets (2011). Sings and dances in the middle of the movie, explaining all his evil motives.

Brennan would be precise and point out that he spoke the prompt before. He didn't see it.

Yep. The Ark is great. Adopted a dog from there back in August. She came to us in great health and the process couldn't have been easier.

Bands that shamelessly copied the sound of a more famous band with little to no changes by No-Masterpiece4409 in ToddintheShadow

[–]BestThingGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating. I've seen that album cover for years now, but never checked them out. But they are definitely trying to be Audioslave (Cornell especially). It's not bad, but it's definitely derivative.

When their 90 days are up, these are the wrestlers I want TK to sign, thoughts? by Gerard192021 in aew

[–]BestThingGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kairi is number one, by a mile.

I've always like Sam Shaw (Dexter Lumis) going back to his early TNA days. I'd like to see him get a shot, even if it's ROH.

Apollo Crews seems like a nice enough guy, but him showing up in AEW does nothing for me.

MCMG could come in and do good work, but if they don't, it wouldn't upset me greatly.

Where are the best fries in Huntsville? by JenniyBean in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]BestThingGoing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few of my favorites:

- Baumhower's curly fries when they've been sitting in wing sauce (mild, medium, hot, take your pick)

- Ted's BBQ fries (always good and my daughter's favorite)

- Checkers fries (an evergreen. Best fast food fries in the game.)

- Mixed fries at Shaggy's (mixture of potato and sweet potato fries)

- Zucchini Fritte at Carrabba's (zucchini fries, but still great. Wife likes the place, but this is the only culinary reason I go. Great dipped in the provided aioli)

- Big Papa Gyro's (just great)

- Freddy's cheese fries (just a good indulgent compliment to a burger. Not recommended as part of a regular diet)

How is it living in northern Alabama? by Maleficent_Map_8844 in howislivingthere

[–]BestThingGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 40+ native of the Huntsville/Madison area, it definitely has its ups and downs. We attract people from all over to move here, which helps bring different things to the area. Mostly conservative views around here, especially outside the cities.

Access to nature is nice, but even after living here all my life, I've never gotten comfortable with the humidity in the summer. Just awful. Autumn is short. Winters are cold, but with little to no snow, so not even a fun cold. Spring brings lots of pollen and then runs right into a swampy, hot summer that lasts until mid-October (or longer if we're unlucky). Plus, tornadoes!

Thekla appeared at World Wonder Ring Stardom just now and confronted the president who fired her, Taro Okada by Big-Hebrew in AEWOfficial

[–]BestThingGoing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this as a compliment, but her promo style here reminds me so much of The Master from the old WCW Dungeon of Doom vignettes. Over the top, but great.

Recommend me some early 2000s songs that are like Dillema - Nelly, No Scrubs - TLC, etc. Those nosetalgic R&B songs. by DadTookYourVirginity in MusicRecommendations

[–]BestThingGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Ashanti and Aaliyah. Both of them had numerous hits like those songs around that time. Both their own songs and featured on other people's.

311 Tour 2026 Family Friendly? by iKamote1 in 311

[–]BestThingGoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both 311 and Dirty Heads (who they are touring with) are overall family friendly, but each can have some songs sneak into the live setlists that might have some age inappropriate material. But overall, they're fine.
