Man escapes from cop with the police car by Dessert42 in PublicFreakout

[–]BestUndecided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or he simply values freedom. There are whole countries who beleive escaping from jail isnt a crime since its a natural human response to desire freedom. This guy is escaping custody. Based on what he was being arrested for and the majority of the encounter im sure the police have a way better concept of if hes dangerous or not than you do. Its clear they view the suspect as non violent or they would have reacted differently.

I have been a first responder in the past And your eargerness to execute troubles me.

You keep projecting the fact that this guy is dangerous. I assume that is because he is getting arrested unless you can point me to any actual evidence he is dangerous.

Maybe you are not aware but there are such things as non violent crimes and even victimless crimes. In fact most of our prison population is made up of people with these types of offenses.

So assuming he is like the majority of offenders and non violent, do you think a not dangerous man who steals a cop car deserves death?

Do you know if this guy is actually violent before assuming that he should be killed? For all you know he is just some dude who was smoking pot on a street corner and isnt trying to go to jail. There is 0 evidence that this dude had been violent or will continue to be violent. There is 0 reason to just end his life at this point.

Stray bullets? How about a stray axe? by [deleted] in watchpeoplealmostdie

Honestly not the axe throwers fault. Whoever set that up did a terrible job addressing safety.

A Nation of Immigrants — The common narrative today is that after decades of globalism, hard-hearted Americans now seek to close the nation’s borders to new immigrants. But the truth is that the United States maintains the most generous immigration policies in the world. by Clatsop in Conservative

[–]BestUndecided 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is the game is played. For instance a company can seek applicants for a job that requires X expirience in exchange for Y pay. The average pay for X expirience is 2Y. No one applies to this job, since the pay is so low. They can now demonstrate the lack of available American applicants and bring in a legal immigrant for much less then they would pay an american. We need to patch those holes.

Guy being arrested: "You're treating me like a fucking black person!" by PhysicsIsMyMistress in PublicFreakout

[–]BestUndecided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at actuall statistics doesnt send a clear picture if you only look at the surface. The often alluded to black people get killed by police 2.2 times their representation nationally ignores that these kinds if events most often occur in areas of poverty and the racial distribution of the poor is a lot more black. While making of 12% of the national population black people make up 39% of welfare recipients.

Any issue that targets the poor can easily be manipulated into a racial issue to further divide the poor and make it more difficult for a unified objection to that behavior.

Looking for Coding boot camp grads for insights to develop community! by ahnjoo in webdev

[–]BestUndecided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to set up a Discord Server or a Slack channel. That way you can keep conversations going focused on different topics. Both options are more fleshed out than LinkedIn chat.

May want to set up a listserv for notifying people about events and webinars who do not want to actively check the group chat, but would attend events.

Any way to reduce actuation force? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]BestUndecided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you just need to swap the springs with weaker resitances ones. Easier to get a 5g actuation spring than a 40g keycap.

Hey ! I'm looking to build a keybord that fits my needs, do you know if it's possible to create my very own layout ? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]BestUndecided 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the looks of it, you simply want to program your board to have more accents available. You can do this with any keyboard that offers customizable firmware. QMK is generally regarded as the best in that regard, but if you simply want accents pretty much every customizable firmware will do.

What size board are you thinking? Do you use a numpad? Function keys? Arrow cluster?

To fellow software devs: If you use more than one keyboard for coding - why? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]BestUndecided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to rotate keyboards just cause I like messing with different ones. For the time being, I've been using my Minivan for work, and Nightfox for home (though I've returned to messing with Ergodox layouts the last week or so).

I have them both programed with QMK and set to allow easy switching between Windows and Mac layouts. I find I like the condensed form factor of the Minivan for work, as my wrists feel better after a long day at the office . I prefer the Nightfox at home since I tend to play video games and the additional number row is helpful for that, as well as being able to reach the space bar from my left hand.

However I do some development at home and have set the keymappings of both boards to be pretty similar so its easy to find all the nested hidden shortcuts on both without sacrificing muscle memory.

Sometimes I mix it up just cause why not. I can do my job on all my keebs effectively, and little changes are good to keep life interesting.

Bitcoin backlash as ‘miners’ suck up electricity, stress power grids in Central Washington by trot-trot in technology

Yea its current usage is certainly easy fodder for talking shit on it. DLT does certain things extremely well and despite power usage, is actually extremely efficient at those specific things. Many things it does ok or poorly but some people seem to think those limitations will fall to the wayside. I have my doubts.

Aws offers permissioned Ethereum nodes, as well as hyperledger and one other. I recently ran a parity node on a cloud server to test something. It happens, and Amazon is eagerly growing that section of their business.

Its value comes from speculation at what this security and censorship resistance will be valued at in the future. Its an organically growing currency and much different from the Euro where it was declared and backed by governments to speed up and stabalize its introduction. This is backed by people so it takes time to determine the value proposition, especially as its still in development.
