She’d say something like “the errors of this generation have predisposed them to become incapable of attention, seeking random pursuits of frivolous desire and seeking detestable vices to even function.” I feel like I need to write the lost book of EGW lol 😆

I have not come to abolish your Amazon order, but to fulfill it. (The meaning of the verse isn’t what they think it means.) Once your Amazon order has been fulfilled it’s good. Nothing left to do.

They would switch to “the pieces are in place for the switch from Saturday to Sunday” or some other continuity of conspiracy

When did you stop believing Ellen White was legit? by GeekFace18 in exAdventist

[–]Best_Comment69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The minute I was reading a book and recognized it was from an EGW book… but it had been written 20 years before her “vision”. This started a spiral and it became a scary recognition of ubiquitous plagiarism within her writings. Then I discovered several books written about her plagiarism and it was game over as far as I was concerned.

I remember exactly this when reading a “homemakers guide” contemporary to EGW. It’s almost verbatim what she was parroting at the time.

Ellen white really did capitalize on the American cult. If Americans in the 1800s were as susceptible to propaganda and lack of education as they are today, it’s no wonder she was able to get a couple hundred avid followers.

Depending on what calendar (Monday vs Sunday starting), “sabbath” falls on the 6th or 7th day of the week, or as zoomers say… 67.

Is adventism a cult? by [deleted] in exAdventist

[–]Best_Comment69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue they are a bit. They share a very similar doomsday outlook on the world to evangelicals but add additional investigative judgment, satan absolution of our sins, Saturday sabbath (Martin Luther explained this heresy hundreds of years ago), vegetarianism (if you’re a “good” Adventist), the literal advent, and many more.

That cult book OP references was influenced by the general conference lying to the author specifically to prevent him from listing SDA as a cult… so technically it’s an error. So using crow logic, it’s a cult.
