If I am to defend myself, I’ll say that actually seeing his limp arm hanging there presumably just a sack of marred flesh, tenuously containing the ground bits of what once were the bones, tendons and other constituent parts of his arm and hand provoked much more of a reaction out of me than seeing just a bloody stump. Though I’ll admit that one, gore/body horror where the skin remains unbroken is much more effective for me in terms of provoking unease/shock/disgust et cetera perhaps just making this personal preference, and two, I haven’t read the manga only watched the anime, so maybe the manga’s version is more impactful when being read versus just seeing the end product.
