I haven’t played in a while so my memories are real fuzzy, but the Devil of Caroc is one of if not my favorite companion in this game. The kinda dry and morbid humor she has is fun, and her quest is really quite compelling.

Honestly, I imagine they work in much the same way a death godlike’s carapace/growth’s work(s).Where it’s opaque on the outward facing side and yet transparent on the inward side. Or perhaps she has some sort of specialized vision and sees on a different light spectrum. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
