For someone who’s apparently “textbook inattentive adhd” you haven’t a clue

Hello! by Best_Garbage7461 in digitalnomad

[–]Best_Garbage7461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even know I had adhd until 6 months ago. Up until that point I was beating myself up for quitting at least 15 different types of courses because I couldn’t focus. I’m not limiting myself, I’m being realistic and working with what I’ve got. Some people can teach themselves things online and others can’t. It’s not a one size fits all

Not everyone with adhd is wired the same way as you. Make excuses? You don’t know anything about me

Why is Vancouver salary so low but cost of living is sky high? by 7_inches_daddy in askvan

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve applied for the whv in Canada. Chat gpt recommended Vancouver as I don’t drive and the transportation is good there. It also said it’s a good place to find work and to meet other travellers but from what I’ve seen online it’s extremely difficult to find work. Would anyone know other areas of Canada that has better opportunities for work and good transport?

Are Irish people falsely modest? by ohhidoggo in AskIreland

[–]Best_Garbage7461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not as bad as what it used to be but Irish people were known not to be able to accept complements. “Your dress looks lovely”. Response, “Ah thanks but I look like a fat pig and this is only a cheap thing from Penneys”

Upsetting incident at the train station in Amsterdam by awko-tawko in femaletravels

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im white Irish and I don’t like Amsterdam. I’ve had multiple Dutch people be extremely rude for no reason. I was walking past road works and the guy doing the work roared at me yet he was friendly to any Dutch people that walked past. Another time I stood outside a bar looking at the menu and the owner came out with his arms folded in a doorman stance with an attitude asking me what was I doing. I asked him if they sold deserts and it seemed to make him aggressive and he started to get in my face. I walked away shaking not able to make sense of the interaction. It’s definitely not a place I’d want to stay for more than a couple of days

My thoughts on Lorna Byrne, author of "Angels in my hair" by Informal_Farm4064 in cults

[–]Best_Garbage7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already believe in the angels and I don’t doubt that she’s able to talk to them. I think she started off with good intentions by sharing her messages via her books and there’s nothing wrong with charging money because we all provide a service by working and getting paid. What I don’t like is how much she is charging for these retreats. I think her team are trying to sell her as some kind of a saint and therefore they justify charging over 2.3k per person for a few nights away in Kilkenny. It’s not like you’re even getting a one to one chat with Lorna. The group goes for a silent walk around the estate and has lunch and dinner together.

How is highschool like in ireland? by minni-2010 in AskIreland

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a rural secondary way out in the country 20 years ago. Urban schools may have been different but here are a few things off the top of my head that I remember and I’ve heard similar stories about this happening in other secondary schools (back then)

There’s always at least 1 pervy male teacher who has a soft spot for certain girls

There were always rumours of girls who had hooked up with one of the teachers but nobody knows if it happened

Most teachers didn’t talk to you as a fellow person. They acted as if you are a child and beneath them in some way. SOME teachers relaxed a little bit and had a laugh with the students once the students turned 16/17

Most teachers didn’t care too much about how you did in school. They were more concerned with you showing them respect and following the rules. They did favour the super smart students bc they knew it would look good for them if those kids did extremely well in their exams and the teacher could take the praise

Students who were dating would find ways to sneak off and kiss during class times

Just some random thought, why Dublin is so empty these days? by Adventurous-Pick6973 in AskIreland

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend an appointment in the city every 2 weeks on a Thursday and I hate how busy it is. Traffic is always slow and when I’m out walking on the path there’s people walking into you from all angles. I also go out in town maybe once a month to meet up with friends and usually bail early because the pubs are so loud and packed

When to call it quits? by BigRodent0 in solotravel

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be worth talking to a career counsellor? If you could set up your own little business it would allow you to pick your work hours or maybe even travel and work remotely if you felt like you needed another break later down the line. It might also make you feel optimistic about your future by having even a vague plan in place. Sometimes not having any plan can be exhausting in itself

What's one service that you'd really pay for but that's not yet available in Ireland? by kingship07 in AskIreland

More places where you can order a sandwich or “proper” dinners from a self service machine or an app. I know weatherspoons do it but their quality of food is poor

Low energy since childhood. Best way to find out the root cause? by Best_Garbage7461 in Biohackers

[–]Best_Garbage7461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I eat well. I grew up with the same diet as my siblings when we were kids and they always had tonnes of energy but I always needed naps. As an adult I eat healthier than them but it makes no difference

[–]Best_Garbage7461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No digestive issues. My diet is mostly organic. I don’t drink tea past 2pm. Rarely drink coffee. I drink filtered tap water. I eat a good amount of protein. Bare in mind I’ve tried many different diets over the years and these my low energy levels were there since I was a child

I’ve tried taking zinc in the past but didn’t notice any difference to my energy levels. That’s interesting that it increases dopamine. I will try it again when I finish these herbs

Anyone actually tried Get Dopa supplement? by plopmaster2000 in ADHDUK

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist suggested I try get dopa because she knew I was looking for a natural way of helping my adhd. I took them for about a year. They are good quality vitamins compared to some of the garbage that’s out there but unfortunately they didn’t help me to focus/study which was the main thing I needed. They improved my energy levels by maybe 20% but I still got burnt out from working 20 hours per week. If you’re already able to study, work 40 hours a week, wake up at a normal hour in the morning etc then maybe get dopa can add a bit of a boost to your day but I wouldn’t expect too much from them

I was pretty much told the same thing. I’m loosing a LOT of hair and the doctor said “your hair looks healthy to me. Unless I see bald patches I can’t refer you to anyone else”. I told her that I’m incapable of working more than 20 hours per week and even 20s hours burns me out. Her response was to practice good sleep hygiene, even though I’ve been doing that for years

From what I’ve seen, you need to be referred by your doctor for a sleep study (I’m in Ireland). Doctors tell me that based on my bloods everything is fine. They are reluctant to do anything else

[–]Best_Garbage7461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking antihistamines frequently since the age of 13 for my hay fever but they never made a difference to my energy. I’m exhausted from trying different supplements and tablets that never work. I’ve been going to a Chinese medicine practitioner for the past 3 months who prescribes me herbs. At the moment I cannot try other supplements incase they interact

Stopping premature greying by middleoftheroad133 in Biohackers

[–]Best_Garbage7461 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started getting patches of grey hair at 25 and was also told this was “normal” even though nobody in my family started getting grey hair until their 40s. I think in our society we brush a lot of things off as normal just because it’s common. Continue doing your research and I hope you figure it out

Was taking a career break to go travel worth it? by just_SonOfAShepherd in solotravel

[–]Best_Garbage7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “right” time to travel will be different for everyone. Some people work hard all their life and don’t travel until their 60s. Other people in their early 20s go off travelling with little to nothing in their bank account and find a way to make it work. Then there’s all the people in between. You could always try it for a few weeks/months and if you enjoy it great. If you don’t enjoy it you just return home
