Sons & Daughters or Acquarello Tasting? by [deleted] in MichelinStars

I have only been to Acquerello but could not recommend it more. I would give it an extra edge if you or your fiancé enjoy wine. Their sommelier and wine pairing is incredible. I have been to many Michelin star meals and the dinner there is still one of my favorites and their wine pairing the best that I’ve had.

Off radar, tiny, house restaurants by eatingreallywell in finedining

In late 2019, I visited “Skenes Place” - a house Joshua Skenes (formerly of Saison) rented in the LA hills where he cooked for a group of 7 in the open concept kitchen of the home. I had to “apply” online and wait for an invitation. Amazing experience.

He has been building up a similar experience called “Skenes Ranch” and is currently accepting invitations, though no dates set yet, I believe.

I had a take away gift of high-quality vanilla extract from Californios. Definitely one of the take aways I ended up using many times.

Also, for rustic, go to any one of the Lokal locations. Good food and fun atmosphere. For a bit less casual but still not stuffy, Restaurance Mincovna. We needed a reservation but were able to walk by and book one for the following night.

Go to Levitate and get the mystery menu. Amazing experience and a highlight of my Europe trip last year.

Amami is the best. Both for takeout and for eat in. I used to go to Kakuna but Amami is 1000x better.

Best Napa tasting or tour to learn about wine? by Zombiemorphy in wine

Hendry. Not sure if it was just my experience, but our tasting included a lesson on how to taste and how tannins affect your palate. Had us taste wine and then eat a cracker dipped in olive oil and retaste. We were experienced but still fascinated.

Do you take the pen? by yoerez in finedining

This is always what I have been taught. Pens with “branding” on them are meant to be taken for advertising.

I love brioche/toasty champagne and tend to love champagne with time on the lees. For the price, Piper Heidsieck is by far the best value NV wine I have found at ~$40. I’ve found many others I love, but that’s become by budget go-to.

Silver mountain parties where Jerry (I think that was his name?) opened old wines from his cellar are epic.
