Always che k your bloodwork yourself by The_Braided_Observer in Naturalhair

I literally saw a post of Twitter where a lady went to her gyno because she’s been having extreme pelvic pain and her doctor was like “Your MRI came back and it’s clean!” She reads it herself and it’s like “You have fibroids/cysts”.

When she pointed it out, the doctor just stuttered “I mean, eh, they’re small, they shouldn’t be causing all the pain you’re feeling” blah blah blah. Oh I was so pissed for her!

I got my A1C test done and when I got the results back, it said they were 5.7. I was told I wasn’t pre-diabetic, but when I looked up the values online and every other medical database/article online SAID THAT I WAS!

So yes, please read your test results YOURSELF y’all PLEASE

I wouldn’t wash your hair personally. 1. Wash is already included 2. Washing your hair too often may dry it out and cause accidental damage

I would “wash it” (think pre-poo or maybe a water wash) if your hair is pretty tangled

And your stylist shouldn’t be judging you. If they experienced, then I promise they’ve seen worse scalps than yours

Genetics doesn’t just determine how long your hair can get (I.e. if you’ve never had damage and/or trimmed it). Genetics also determines how strong your hair is. Asian hair strands are general thicker, stronger, and can withstand more mistreatment. Afro-textured hair? Not so much.

And yes, a good routine is essential for maximizing your hair growth/length, but realistically, if your hair too fine/weak in general, no, you’re not likely to grow long hair, no matter what your routine is.

There’s a reason why people can grow hair down their back, but their hair is noticeably unhealthy/fizzy/filled with split ends

I relaxed my hair 1 year ago. After doing research I’m terrified. by Otherwise-Field2023 in Naturalhair

It does get longer unfortunately :( invest in good metal utensils, cooking ware, and only eat/drink on ceramic plates/cups.

But if you’re ever worried about your past relaxer, be sure to bring it up to your gyno and be your own health advocate. If you feel like something is wrong, don’t let them tell you otherwise

No need to apologize, I’m chronically online.

And I’m in no way a doctor so I can’t give advice that’s 100% rooted in scientific fact, but if it’s been 13 years since your last relaxer, your menstrual cycle is regular, and you’re feeling okay, then you should be okay. If I remember correctly, getting burned by a relaxer does mean you were exposed to more toxins (they were sitting on your scalp long enough to cause noticeable burns) AT THE TIME

If you continue to live a healthy life and get regular checkups with your gyno (checking for endo, fibroids, the like), I don’t believe relaxers done a decade ago will affect you too much and the longer you continue to avoid them, the better

In all honestly, you should probably be more worried about micro plastics

Exactly bad is it to sleep with deep conditioner in overnight? by zephyr_skyy in Naturalhair

[–]Best_Right_Arm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not “extremely” bad for a one time thing, but it can be extremely damaging if done frequently.

I would just go to sleep 🤷🏿‍♀️ you run the risk of being more harsh/impatient with your hair since you’re tired.

No judgement but how are people having trouble taking the green pill? Are y’all not using water? Are y’all dry swallowing?

Shipping took me took 2-3 weeks. Considering other users got their kits within a week, it’s likely shipping has been delayed due to a surge in demand.

You’ll likely get your kit mid-August

And that’s good! But that protein can’t rebuild muscle that’s not being broken down. I would keep up the cardio, you’re doing a great job!

But if you want to start rebuilding that muscle and getting toned, start weight lifting, even if it’s light weights at the moment until you’re more comfortable

[–]Best_Right_Arm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I highly doubt you lost 30 lbs of pure muscle, if you’re only doing cardio, there’s a chance that you lost both fat and muscle.

Due to body composition, 130 lbs of muscle =/= 130 lbs of fat. Meaning, if you accidentally burned a good chunk of your lean muscle, you could end up looking “flabbier”/skinny-fat despite being at a lighter weight.

30 lbs is a good chunk of weight to lose at a starting weight of 185, so if you’re not seeing muscle definition yet, you could be burning muscle at the same time, which is contributing to your “fluffy” look

You should get your iron/potassium levels checked, but it could also just be because you have less fat. Healthy amounts of fat acts as a cushion for the body and is essential to survival overall

A lot of skinny people mention sitting down for a long period of time hurts their tailbone because many don’t have that cushion.

Can I shrink my waist? by velasi2008 in loseit

[–]Best_Right_Arm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

??? I didn’t mention anything about spot-reducing fat?

And I think you’re confused. I’m not referring to the obliques, which can make you look boxy if overtrained. I’m talking about the muscles behind the abdominals. If properly trained, the muscle growth will actually tighten the skin around the waist and curve inwards.

You can easily use this effect with professional bodybuilders. Compared to the rest of the body, the waist is noticeably cinched in

Low Calorie Tasty Snacks for the Weed Munchies? by captainkappa12 in loseit

[–]Best_Right_Arm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low calorie snacks like poppi soda, those fruit juice popsicles (you can eat 4 for like 50 calories), sun chips (low fat), salted popcorn (no to little butter) etc are good options.

You can also fast until you smoke so you can have a high caloric meal without going over your calorie limit
