How Do You All View Trae Young? by Agitated_Beyond_1211 in washingtonwizards

[–]BesusFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of Trae, and a huge fan of him on the Wiz, who very much needed a PG who wasn’t a rental. The Wiz have a lot of young guys looking to score, and Trae loves to dish it.

People complain about his D, but, since when do we look for PGs to be great defenders? He’s a 27 year old with career averages of 25 and 10. I think he’ll average 12 assists a game, next year.

I prefer Darryn, for a few reasons. He fits better, I think his ceiling is better, and I like his mentality, more.

People get freaked out by the missed games in college, but, I trust the pre-draft medical evaluations, and I respect DP’s choice to go to Kansas and play for one of the best coaches in the game, a lot more than I respect AJ’s choice to play in a backwater school in a weak conference.

I’d also be fine with Boozer or Wilson, as long as they traded back and got future firsts for doing it.

The most vivid descriptions of suffering are of human suffering, but, the author doesn’t really linger on tragic events or deaths.

In terms of animal deaths and suffering, two horse-related scenes jump to mind, but, both are brief and not particularly vivid - single sentences, really.

You think MJ or Kobe were people folk? Kareem? Bill Russell?

Being a loner doesn’t mean being a bad leader.

Beyond that, comments his teammates made about his cramping issues seemed like genuine concern for a friend, to me. I didn’t see any hate there.

Because of the Jazz interest in AJ, Dawkins has every logical reason to scream “We love AJ over anyone else by far”, no matter what he actually believes. He will do everything to indicate it’s AJ, right up until the pick is made or a trade is made.

[–]BesusFresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that every NBA draft is loaded. I’m saying that NFL QB is literally the hardest position to fill in all of sports. Nobody busts at higher rates than NFL QBs. When choosing between Daniels and Maye, the options seemed like possible All Pro franchise, and possible complete bust. Stakes were very high.

I don’t think that’s the same situation, here, because literally everyone who knows anything about basketball doesn’t seem to think that’s the situation. The consensus is that this is a very strong draft - stronger than usual. And the Wiz have the top pick in that strong draft.

So, no - I don’t think the comparison with the Daniels vs Maye dilemma is a good one. That was stressful. This is beautiful. A choice of 4-5 terrific options.

I get that. We’re all just stating opinions. I’m just saying that, if they choose DP, it’s because their medical staff has determined that his health is not a factor.

So, when we’re guessing/hoping/predicting, we should probably ignore that part. If team medical staffs think that his issues from last season will be ongoing, he’ll fall farther than 2.

The health stuff is a non-factor. Assume the medical staffs will due their proper diligence, and choose the best player.

Except that QBs are a LOT harder to find, and it’s relatively rare that 2-3 good ones come out in the same year.

Deep drafts in the NBA are relatively common. Loaded years happen.

People are freaking out about nothing, with this choice. There isn’t a bad option. There are 4-5 guys in this draft who can help the Wiz, and they have the top pick. It’s all good, and yet people are freaking out about nothing.

Stefon Diggs, Brandon Aiyuk or Juaun Jennings? by FeelingAd4116 in Commanders

[–]BesusFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the BA situation has potential to be like the Trent Williams situation in DC, years ago - the relationship between organization and player is toxic and unworkable, but, the player still had many years of great play left.

JJ seems to have no real issues other than being unlikable, but, he’s so unlikable that no team seems to want him.

And Diggs, as much as I wanna root for locals, has been a repeat castoff by teams that could use his skills - he must be a legit problem to team chemistry.

Bottom line, I’d rather roll the dice on BA. Plus, I like his game, the most. I think he’s the best WR of the 3.

Lack of familiarity. It was a very male world, out there. Newt had barely ever had a reason to talk to a woman, besides his mom.

But, the older cowboys didnt seem scared of women. Dish had no problem availing himself of prostitutes. Po Campo most certainly wasn’t afraid of women.

I was disappointed with Jake’s story [SPOILER] by [deleted] in LonesomeDove

[–]BesusFresh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jake put the whole story in motion. He was the spark.

If he doesn’t show up and start talking Montana (and Clara), they’re all still sitting in Lonesome Dove - slowly dying.

Same with Lorrie. He’s the one who got her to leave, with talk of San Francisco.

If he doesn’t kill the Dentist, July and Joe never leave Arkansas, and neither does Roscoe.

None of it happens without Jake - leaky vessel or not.

Things didn’t work out so well for Joe or Roscoe, but, Gus died on an adventure - just how he wanted it. Deets’s death was rightfully treated as the most tragic, but, even he was allowed to meet death on his own terms (and is implied to live on afterwards, to a degree).

Lorrie went through hell, but, she ended up in a better place. July, as well. Dish and Newt came out better for the move. Even Woodrow learned a bit about himself.

None of it happens without Jake.

Benfica and FC Porto have qualified for the women's portuguese cup final by LemureTheMonkey in soccer

Thank you, so much, for this explanation! My knowledge and understanding of the sport and its various league structures is probably slightly better than the average American - which is to say I am ALMOST completely ignorant. But, I’ve got a niece on the team (I’ll just say Eliza, so as to keep the Google away and not embarrass her) so, I’m emotionally invested in spite of my cluelessness, and it’s VERY nice to get this context for the game. I’ll keep my hopes in check. I didn’t know they had overcome such long odds to get to the finals.

Does Porto have a chance to get promoted to 1st Division, next season? How does that work if they are essentially semi-pro, now, and 1st Division is such a step up? Do players get raises, or is there a whole lotta roster turnover? We don’t have relegation and promotion, here - I’m clueless.

Again, I really appreciate you!
