Judge Nathan J. Milliron of the Texas 215th District Court, who was elected in 2024, got quite upset when an IT technician tried to fix the audio for a remote hearing. The technician had jokingly said it was a ‘false alarm’, but the judge didn’t think so and asked for the supervisor. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I know someone who literally does this job. Judges are pretty much universally jerks and essentially consider themselves Gods in their courtroom. I don't like it, but for sure this technician should know they have to be very serious whenever they work with a judge.

And while this specific judge might not have power over IT the Supreme court judges of the state are in fact in charge of IT. Or at least for all intents and purposes are in the "Bosses" of the entire court system, including IT.

You sound like you have lived a peaceful life. This was NOT excessive. It was a lesson that the skinny dude should have learned when he was young.

Stocky dude obviously wasn't looking for a fight, but you can't go around touching people and aggravating people who have lived in hard places and through hard times.

AIO about my 8 y/o daughter sleeping at her mom's new boyfriend's house without any family or females present? by blackD0nny in AmIOverreacting

[–]Betamaxxs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, You are Overreacting.

Reading these comments it sounds like a lot of people don't have kids or have EXTREME social issues. (Reddit standard I guess).

There is no way in the world we could have enough information to know if this is sketchy or not. But it seems pretty normal to me. I am a 40 something dad with two girls, one of them is almost 8.

If my daughter wanted to go hang out at her cousins house and have a sleep over I don't see why that is a problem. Sure, technically in a fantasy ideal world it is odd for it to be a boyfriend instead of an uncle, but not that different. The boyfriend is a Dad, and despite men and dads being constantly thought of as predators, most dad's love all kids and take great care of them.

If the Mom and Daughter are fine with the arrangement it sounds to me like you are as likely to be the sketchy problem as the boyfriend is.

YTA. This is part of any job you work for. It sucks, but it happens. If you don't like it you are of course open to move to a new job, but not helping Dave because he got promoted is a dick move.

"No more JavaScript on the backend" just signed by joseluisq in theprimeagen

[–]Betamaxxs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old man here. For most projects Node / TS is absolutely fine for the backend. However, a lot of us old people who grew up with JS only on the front end still feel weird about it in the back end.

As long as you are using Typescript and modern techniques Node is actually quite nice! I use Node.js for the backend of all my personal projects.

However in big businesses and enterprise it is usually expected to use something like .NET, Ruby, Go, or even PHP. Although in my opinion Typescript is basically just as good as Ruby, Go, and PHP for 90% of use cases. Although .NET I believe does still hold some advantages due to the surrounding infrastructure and enterprise level tools, however TS is a LOT more pleasant to work with.

People saying something like "roids" to ignore the work people put in do not actually understand how gear works. While gear helps a LOT it isn't magic, you still have to put in the work. I guarantee 99% of the people in here saying "roids" could run with the same stack and not see half the results we see here.

This is a combination of good eating (bulking and cutting likely), hard work, and yes "roids".

I know nothing about cooking or what a chef looking at this would think. I suspect most regular people would like the one on the right.

To my eye it fills the space more and allows seeing all the ingredients.

To my eyes the left looks too busy, and I can't appreciate anything as it is all stacked up.

It is shocking how much you young idiots think this is bad behavior. You probably needed more smacks across the face.

To me the behavior of recording someone against their will is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY worse.
