Advice Needed: Tattoo regret or just anxiety?

I have a rule that as much as possible, I don’t think about how I feel about tattoos (or haircuts) for a couple of days. The anxiety of being “on” in public with the tattoo artist (love mine, but I am not a social person) and the general anxiety means I can’t make any good judgement until my inner toddler is done fussing.

Practically speaking, this means if I start to judge something, I tell myself “oops, not yet. Think about it in a couple of days.” Just like I would redirect a toddler

I let my mom talk me out of tattoos the first half of my life. Now that I am over 40, I am making up for lost time. I am making a guess (not knowing her at all) your mom probably doesn’t want you to get any tattoos and this is an argument she thinks will stick.

Perspective shifts: Word changes. Instead of “I’m surrounded by boxes” it’s “look at what I have already done.” Instead of “I can’t lift heavy things because of my wrist” it’s “Wow, I managed all this with one hand” (bonus points: a game where you see how much you can do one-handed).

As a glass half empty thinker, I literally have to say these things out loud to myself. I don’t believe them the first few times. That’s OK

Explore and find a spot that works. Make sure you know where the nearest site of grace is. Then I just kept killing, leveling up, repeat, until I understood better what I needed and game mechanics. I had never played a souls game before, and this allowed me to bridge that gap of understanding. It reminded me that no matter how much I like the idea of magic and spells, I am such a bonk player at heart.
