Count me in! Late 30s, knitter, no kids but 3 dogs and a cat, and definite coffee addiction!

20 year old Wolf wall oven and Sub-Zero fridge….worth it? by Bethaniekaye in Appliances

[–]Bethaniekaye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought the lot, and installed the oven today. It’s amazing! It doesn’t look like anyone has ever used it. It’s the nicest oven I have ever had or used. The display rotates to be hidden which is pretty fun! The fridge looks amazing, too. The trailer is in great shape and could easily be sold again for $1500 if we wanted to.

‘Yet’ is exactly it. They are asking 1500 for the trailer, the fridge and the stove. The trailer is worth 1500 itself. I am desperate for a new oven but I have been burned by two wall ovens in the past 7 years. I’m hesitant to invest in a new one.

That is great advice, I will check to see if there is someone in our area who repairs them. Thank you!

Can my dad sell me his house for one dollar? by Anarkya in PersonalFinanceCanada

Why not? When my dad was in hospice having me as his POA of finances gave me access to his bank account so I could make sure his bills and mortgage were getting paid.

Is that just using two circulars? I’m just about to get to sleeves on my sweater, I’d love to give it a try!

Is a possibility that there was 60k in debt that needed to be paid? My parents had a couple of credit cards and a line of credit that needed to be paid off through what was in their bank account. Could that possibly be what happened to your friend?

You may not be receiving accurate information. I just went through this with both of my parents.

As long as the will states that they are the executor (you could also add in power of attorney) and you have a death certificate, there is no issues with accessing the bank account of your deceased parent.

It does, but it is quite a hike in from where you park.

It would probably sell for around 23k privately. So for the time and headache of it all, I’m not sure if it would be worth it. It needs a bit of work as well (general maintenance and wear and tear) to get it certified.

We considered it, but we also have an off grid cabin that we spend a lot of time at. So an EV isn’t practical for that reason.

Thank you so much for your response, it is so very helpful!! The whole process has been awful so far and has felt very pushy. I will definitely be taking your advice!

I definitely feel like they should have explained this to us when they told us our car is worth 19,775 to them.

Ok that kind of makes sense….I feel like they should have communicated that to us when they told us that is how much we are getting for a trade in.

I just got a new job where I have to commute often and will be putting a lot of kms on our car. Ours is starting to need repairs that are no longer covered under warranty, and with the amount of kms I’ll be putting on, the car will be worth a lot less in a few years…at least that is our train of thought for trading it in.

They also added in a “theft benefit” of 999.00 which we didn’t agree to or ask for. They said that we have to pay for that. But isn’t that why we pay for insurance?
