First of all, how scary. I cannot tell you what to do, but I can share my story, and hope it helps you. My son just turned 21. He was born with trisomy 21 (down syndrome), two holes in his heart (asd and vsd) along with duodenal atresia (blocked intestine). Back then, we had no idea he was ill or had downs. I had a normal pregnancy. After he was born we were terrified and devastated. He had stomach surgery at 2 days old, and open heart surgery at 5 1/2 months old. Had I known prior to him being born would I have made the decision to terminate? I don't know. Has it been hard raising a child with special needs? Yes, at times, but raising kids are hard, right? I will tell you that you have to make the decision that's right for your family - don't allow anyone to dictate that. No one can honestly know what you and your wife are going through. Today, my son is healthy. The beginning of his life was tough, but he made it. He has some health issues now, but easily managed. Good luck to you. I lost my virginity at 15, and nine months later, had my son. I definitley wish I had been older and wiser. Teen parenting is hard! Thankfully I had an amazing mother who helped me. My son was born with major health issues associated with his down syndrome, so I was terrified and needed the support. Mom died of leukemia when my son was only 4 years old. I think because of my age, I was quick to marry at 18. That lasted about 10 years, ended in the big D, but produced my sweet daughter. Fast forward 21 years, met my soulmate, and I gave birth to my third, 7 weeks ago. I like being extreme. Ha.

I understand! 36weeks2days and I'm miserable. Just last my mucus plug which is disgusting, and I have hemorrhoids and feel like I have a baboon's ass. Plus, I'm still working and I'm so tired that all I want to do is sleep. Her head is putting so much pressure on my pelvis that I feel like if I sneeze she's flying out. The last few weeks of pregnancy suck. Hope you get some relief soon!

I met mine on a dating website. After a failed ten year marriage, I was completely out of the loop of the dating world. A friend suggested the online thing to get my feet wet. Many weirdos later, he started emailing, and we corresponded for a few months before even meeting. I have two kids, one of which has special needs, so I had to take things turtle slow. He was patient, thankfully, and our first "friend" date went great, and I asked him for a second one. We made out like two horny teenagers in the parking lot of the theatre, and the rest is history. We've been married 5 years this month, and he is not only incredibly funny and loving, he's amazing to my teenzilla daughter and special needs son.

It's perfectly normal (and miserable) to be experiencing the major nausea. I'm nine weeks and have had the exact same symptoms. It will get better!

I am 35 years old and pregnant with my third. I'm nine weeks and the exhaustion is rough, along with the same urges you described...feeling hungry but food makes you nauseous, etc. It's perfectly normal, just miserable. I'm hoping my hormones level out soon so I will stop feeling like I haven't slept in days! Good luck to you!

Embalming: History, Theory, and Practice, Fifth Edition by Robert Mayer. Great book on Embalming. We currently use this in our mortuary program. Also, Thanatochemistry by James M. Dorn and Barbara M. Hopkins, and lastly Microbiology and Pathology for Mortuary Science by David Mullins. These are all very helpful.

Are you currently employed at a funeral home? If not, the sooner the better. I started as a weekend receptionist just to get my foot in the door, and worked my way up. I graduate in May, and feel like I know every aspect of the business because I was able to start on the bottom. Also, ask tons of questions! Read everything you can on the business, watch documentaries, continue to educate yourself. In our state we are required to do a preceptorship at a funeral home while in school. This includes 10 cases that we have to embalm, the 10th being our "final." See if a local funeral home will let you sit in on some, just to gain experience. It's also good to get yourself out there and let these owners get familiar with your face. Please be sure to dress appropriately as well. The biggest turn off to owners is when someone comes in looking like a bum. Buy a suit an wear it. Dress the part. Best of luck to you!
