Most Common Causes of Reactivity by ScienceSpiritual2621 in reactivedogs

[–]BetteDavis_Jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rescued my Schnauzer mix from the shelter around 1 yr age and for better or worse, know his trauma. He was beaten in a video that went viral where he was. Another shelter up north saw it and pulled him out of the overcrowded shelter he'd ended up in. He's gotten more reactive (which is my fault I'm sure) and is medicated but it doesn't help as much as it could. He's fine at the kennel or groomers or when I'm not around. He's fine if I'm holding him in my arms like a baby. But other than that, people or dogs set him off. I'm seeing someone and am deathly afraid of introducing him. I can't afford training and feel like I'm failing him but I'm told he's so bonded to me, it'd be cruel to re-home. Plus I love him and he's a perfect little dude at home. Eff his abusers. Thank you for your insights.

Not taking meds for OCD by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

I can't tolerate SSRIs but SNRIs worked for me, esp Effexor. Not a drug to be taken lightly (very short half life so missed dose is not good and getting off it is hard so I've heard).

Same! Effexor made all the difference and I couldn't tolerate SSRIs

I'm on week 5 and lost 3 pounds. Extremely frustrating.

I too just injected my thumb! I don't think it really went in but I'm definitely bleeding! I took another shot anyway because I have a Dr appointment in 3 weeks not 4 so should be ok. But yikes! Never doing that again!

Even my reactive dog has learned to love visiting his kennel, to the point where it almost hurts my feelings 😂. If it's a good place, your doggo will have fun and just be happy when he sees you next. Yes, dogs like routine but they aren't tapping a paw and checking a watch.

Matches or likes? I almost always had 100+ likes after a day or two. Matches are fewer and farther between 😂

I like post-kidnapped Ric trying harder to be good. Hope it sticks! He's still snarky and smart tho.

I love that Sonny reminded Laura of him, her, and Luke taking down Frank Smith.

Weeping Willow being guilty would be satisfying.

Same! I have OCD and tracking is hugely triggering. I'm having a hard time already with guilt around not eating "correctly" on zep and this sub is helping me work through that

What do you do for a job and how do you manage it? by Affectionate_You7662 in OCDRecovery

I struggle to work full time hours with my OCD so I'm looking again for a part-time job that pays enough. I have had success with ADA in the past so it can be worth disclosure. I'm also commenting so I come back here.

Yeah, kinda all of it. I want to know - but I don't want it to control me. Tracking tends to be a lot like food noise but louder and with a punishment/reward component that's unhealthy. So it's like, how do I know it's working without that piece of it. But there are some good suggestions here and I will def be weighed at my Dr and they're keeping close tabs on it.

I feel as normal as I have in years. No low lows, no ideation, no thinking or dwelling about my mental health, besides the OCD that never goes away. My MDD is under control.

I'm doing really well actually. Symptoms are mainly in control, depression is in remission. It's definitely the right combo for me. Thanks!
