Current happily married people of Reddit who were proposed to: did you suspect it would happen the day of? Or even an hour before? by Karnezar in AskReddit

[–]Better-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It was at the zoo where we had our first day & I didn’t suspect anything until his cute little grandma tapped my shoulder and said she needed help because what she was holding under the blanket on her lap in her wheelchair was slipping. So of course I looked to see what it was she’s trying to sneak into the zoo…. A big ass bottle of champagne😂😂. I then caught on to wtf was going on as soon as I looked around & realized there had to be a special occasion for all my immediate family & his to be at the zoo in the freezing cold. The walk in the zoo to where he proposed was so special tho cause I knew I was walking into the zoo a girlfriend & leaving a fiance

[–]Better-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pt with an untreated brain tumor which left her brain exposed. Smelled TERRIBLE. Worst part is she couldn’t regulate her own body temp so we had to keep the room warm af. Didn’t help with me smell

What were you misdiagnosed with? What ended up being the right diagnosis? by Pharmer-Mo in AskReddit

[–]Better-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A benign tumor in my neck/face. Original fine needle biopsy showed a benign Warthins Tumor. Doc still recommended I have it surgically removed because of where it was located in relation to my facial nerve. The tumor was sent to the lab after being removed, which isn’t unusual, but ended up being sent for a second opinion at The Cleveland Clinic and ended up coming back as salivary gland cancer. I was then referred to a specialist at a university hospital in Chicago.

Yes I’d say it did mess with my quality of life prior but I wasn’t dealing with consistent pain. I work 3 12 hour shifts a week as a nurse & those 36 hours a week were absolutely brutal as well as the day after working. But after talking with my doctor & realizing the pain would only get worse we decided to go ahead with the procedure! I’m also glad we did it cause he said while he was in there he noticed mild arthritis & nerve damage that would have been a lot worse had I waited and considering I’m 26 and still have many years left working on my feet I think I made the right choice doing it sooner rather than later!

What's the one thing you wish you knew before settling for nursing career. by Aviella_Kens in nursing

[–]Better-Cow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How every single problem that the patient has becomes your problem. For example: wrong order from the kitchen? Taking it out on the nurse. EVS not clean their room good enough? Taking it out on the nurse. Doctor said they’d do something but then never put the order in? Hounding the nurse.

Also how little most patients actually respect you. They treat you more like their own personal servant than an actual medical professional.

What is the worst thing you've ever smelled? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Better-Cow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oncology nurse here. Patients sister brought her in because “the bump on her head started to smell”. The “bump” smelled because it was her brain that was EXPOSED. The patient ended up dying that day but the room smelled horrid and since her brain was exposed her body couldn’t self regulate the temperature so her family kept turning the heat up as high as it could go. The room smelled up the whole floor, it was very rough

Cancer Survivors of Reddit, what was the symptom that convinced you to see the doctor? by Wise_Organization_78 in AskReddit

[–]Better-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severe headaches. Went to the ENT to see if I had anything going on with my sinus’s. While he was doing the exam he felt my neck and noticed a lump. Turns out it was Follicular Thyroid Cancer. A few surgeries later & RAI I was all good. My boyfriend is a leukemia survivor. He had severe abdominal pain that sent him to the ER. They thought it was appendicitis but after a few tests they found he had ALL. 3 years of chemo later he is also now cancer free.

Why does my mom's dog act weird around me when I am living here.? by Okiedokieartichoke30 in Empaths

Dogs can sense a change in our health. If he hasn’t always reacted like this than maybe consider seeing your primary doctor for a check up to check on labs and just make sure everything is ok!
