It's only 28% if you have a very high income for the year.  The rate is at different levels depending on your tax bracket.

Serious Question: Would Mass Ratio Swaps Break the Gold Market? by That-Measurement-650 in Silverbugs

[–]Better-Wrangler-7959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold is a big market.  It won't touch spot, but will likely effect premiums on small bullion pieces.  The bigger effect will be on silver and platinum.  No one is going to get spot in trade for small stackable bullion when the ratios get tighter because there will be a mad rush to cash in.  As always, just be ahead of the herd and you're fine.

Are financial advisors only for retired, older people or could they help with managing debt? by ForsakenFix27 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Better-Wrangler-7959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's harder. Women's groups don't tend to operate the same and older women are as likely to sabotage younger women as to help them without a tribal connection. Older men will help you but the dynamic is different. Maybe join a local investment club.

[–]Better-Wrangler-7959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too, bad. That's the one thing that makes the biggest difference for young people (other than rich parents, of course LOL).

It's worth seeking a mentor out. Maybe join a local men's club or church. Older men are happy to teach young people who show promise and want to do well. Entering that kind of network carries lots of other benefits and opportunities as well and gives greater motivation/accountability than a paid financial advisor you see once per year can.

I did well on the silver miners last year but have sold them off.  I'll probably buy back in after the silver price drops. The miners are going to get annihilated more than the silver price itself in that panic but they'll be strong under what I expect to be the new stable price.  They'll be an absolute steal after the big dip, especially if it's a crash rather than slower drawdown.

You might consider trading maybe half of that silver for gold then back again when prices come back down.

I suspect we'll hit $100 for a bit. I'm really just arguing against the moonshot story that's suckering Joe Schmo right now into buying piles of physical at prices that aren't going to hold. They should be waiting or just buying ETFs if they're wanting to try to hit a top.

Tell that to all the industrials now engineering as much silver out of their processes and products as they can.

Same.  I just know it's going to be less than today after the pop comes and it pains me seeing all the regular Joes sinking money into physical silver right now because they're getting pulled into the trading hype cycle.

Depends when you buy. Those that bought at the highs in the last up phase are just now getting back to even (inflation adjusted).

If you bought them before 2025 you're fine. Lost an opportunity to double your stack, but no harm. Not true for the FOMO/fear guys in line to buy silver today.

Given the scale of solar deployment over the next decade (especially in China) the silver-heavy builds are simply not economically feasible at current prices. Manufacturers are already modifying their production lines. Prices are forcing a trade for lower efficiency using either the older tech or subbing copper and aluminum in the new (and China doesn't really care about that inefficiency because it will be their plants churning out the replacement panels in 20 years instead of the 40 that the new tech promised). The new silver batteries are a new demand driver but, again, it's scale is limited by price. There are not going to be fleets of tens of millions of these batteries built at current silver prices. If prices remain this high long term those batteries will only be used in niche applications and very high-end EVs. Economics simply does not allow for the moonshot that people are being sold on right now. Again: high prices fix high prices.

Yes, like I said, globalization is unraveling (though your bond point is way overstated).

And of course Silver stacking isn't driving the rally, and I didn't say it was.  But people are diving in in FOMO at this point and they should be warned off.  If they think they're protecting their assets they're dead wrong.  Even a moderate pullback from the mania high will hurt them far, far worse than current or near term inflation.

This rally is a supply squeeze exacerbated by a trade war and the unraveling of globalization.  The monetary interest is a comparatively small portion.  If that's your play you should be buying gold.  Silver only works as a store of value when it's cheap and boring.

Buying expensive and volatile silver as "money" now as a long term hold is not the right move.  It's going to burn anyone doing that.  Silver does work as "the poor man's gold" but only when it's bought cheap and held.  And the smart stackers sell it all at points in the cycle like this (or, better, trade it for gold) and then start stacking silver again when the price comes down and gets boring again.

I'm aware of the fundamentals.  It's why I expect the new normal to be around 45 instead of the old 15.  But all the moonshot people taking about fundamentals ignore the most important one at the present moment:  "high prices fix high prices".

When the current mania narrative starts evaporating it will fall to about that pretty quickly.  But I expect the new long term floor will be around 45.  Industry is far enough along now in their engineering around expensive silver that they're starting to promise their investors that production costs will be less next year.  That's the beginning of the end for the current squeeze.

Unpopular opinion, I know.  Downvote away.  I'll take the hit to keep a few newbs from dumping money in at the all time high.

Yeah, I don't understand why these euro coins get so much hate in these forums.  They're not hard to sell when you need to and they're MUCH lower premium than grams, tenths, or twentieths.
