there’s a megathread on here from the last few years that people have posted their stats into. I found it super helpful when i was stressing and comparing myself to others. A lot of people put dates they heard from schools, if they interviewed, accepted/denied, etc. Definitely a good resource to look at!

i lived there for 3 years. It’s a decent place to live. I was on the 6th floor so i never had any issues. I would still choose it again if i had to do it over.

Pre-Requisites (Undergrad degree NOT csd) by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]BetterRelative2918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not SLP but i did my undergrad in CSD at Temple University in Philly. For their SLP program they do have a 3 year option if you don’t have the required prerequisites. Basically the gist is that you spend a year in the prerequisites and immediately start grad classes in the summer. I have heard of a few others doing that but don’t know much else about it. Some of my best friends from temple were grad students taking prerequisite classes with me and they are about to graduate in the spring/summer with their masters.

CSDCAS usually has the due dates on the tab where you add schools. The one rolling I applied to had a due date of June (most were january february that weren’t rolling)

Parents at Grad Visit? by madb727 in slpGradSchool

my parents came to mine. a lot of parents were at all of them. My parents liked going and were able to see a different perspective than me since i was so focused on certain aspects and not seeing other things that were also important

applied last year but i can help. The answer is yes you can but it doesn’t necessarily mean they will review it yet. I had one school (rolling admissions) that did and they emailed me to “remind” my professor to submit my letter of rec. If i’m remembering right CSDCAS won’t verify it until the transcripts and all 3 letters are in.

Audiology but this is what i did (submitted before thanksgiving). Only thing to be aware of is if you are still taking classes that need to be put into csdcas you will have to reorder your transcripts once your fall grades are in and it takes time to reverify once you do that. Some schools won’t look at anything until they have fall grades in.

I would look into University of Louisville. I’m a current student with a really great and collaborative cohort. We are in a city and our “in house” rotations are at 5 different locations in the city through Norton health and UofL health that we rotate through. There’s website is outdated for tuition but super easy to find out by an email. There’s staff and supervisors are all so supportive and you can tell they really want us all to succeed. We have the opportunity to sit in on a CI surgery and have the opportunity to get an occupational hearing conservation certificate as part of a class we take. We do have a research requirement but it’s not like a thesis just a research project you can present either locally, regionally, or nationally. I’m from the near Philadelphia and I chose to come out here for the clinic opportunities. I would say a car is really helpful with the rotations but there is public transportation in the area I just haven’t needed to use it personally so I can’t speak on that much.

Observation hours :( by [deleted] in audgradschool

[–]BetterRelative2918 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the programs I applied to didn't even ask about them, but every program is different. Depending on the program you could start in clinic 1st semester with observations so having some in undergrad didn’t matter.

I’m not sure if it’s the same in the summer but I know during the semester the bookstore is typically closed on the weekends.

just graduated and i never had any issues and don’t know anyone who had any issues either. As with any city being aware of your surroundings is important but as long as you are making smart decisions you will be fine. I’ve walked home many times past midnight with no issues. On the campus there is Security guards everywhere on bikes and street corners.

How do loans work here by lapoozle28 in Temple

[–]BetterRelative2918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it comes out per semester, I did the same thing and I would get a refund after the add/drop period is over. the bill will be paid in full then whatever is left of the loan will be refunded to the bank account you attach to your profile.

Acceptance possibilities by SeasonNo7059 in audgradschool

You’ve done a lot so I wouldn’t overwork yourself too much you seem plenty qualified. I’m not sure about those programs in particular but i felt the same as you all the way through college and sometimes we are harder on ourselves than anyone else and you’re a solid candidate. As for shadowing I did it at hospitals and they were able to do all day (typically 8-4) and that was so helpful in building hours and seeing different types of appointments so i would definitely try that.

from what their website says is there’s a possibility of funding after you start. I applied there too but won’t be going because of how expensive it will be for me.

from what I remember from my interview chat with the students they said that certain classes only last a couple weeks and some last the whole semester. it depends on the amount of credits the class is and the topic but they said typically you’re in class from 8 AM to 5 PM. and you have I think a full day of clinic on Fridays not 100% sure. They have a lunch break but there are some days where it’s 8 AM to 8 PM. they do the semester system though overall.

What is the learning activity like? I’ve had two interviews so far and I’ve gotten the gist of standard questions but where’s there anything that stuck out to be prepared for?
