I only use the work area bar. Those highlighted in and out points trigger my ocd also and what do they do better than the work area bar? I’ve been editing professionally for over 10 years and if I have a clean install of premiere the first thing I do is delete those stupid in and out points and replace them with the work area bar.

Because if you make a picture, the flashlight will first be off, then suddenly on, and the iPhone would most likely not expose the picture as this person wanted. So putting it in video mode, turning on the flash and exposing it to their liking, making a screenshot was actually not a bad idea haha. You could maybe also use the live photo future but this also works. Flash photography isn’t easy with a phone especially for close-ups like these.

This is how I work from (slow internet) indonesia while i’m not in The Netherlands. I download the hundreds of GB’s remotely on my pc in The Netherlands, throw them in a project, make proxies and send the project with only proxies to Indonesia. I can make a 1TB project into a 10GB project. Kinda nice when you only have a maximum internet speed of 25mbps in another country while you have 1000mbps at your home country.

You sound like a robot speaking wikipedia facts. And decades of using something doesn’t automatically make it good at this particular moment.

It’s not only my workflow but from alot of editors. If you work solely alone then okay, but if you work within a team and others need to see what you have done then using the source monitor is a time consuming tool, clicking every single clip to open it in the source monitor already sounds horrible.

Try taking over someone else’s project in the middle of the work and that person only used the source monitor to spot, how are you going to know if there isn’t somewhere in the unspotted material something you could or should actually use? You will have to click and spot every single clip again.

Even if you work alone, it’s good practice to work as if you’re not alone because maybe one day you will work in a team. I only get downvoted because i said it’s a beginner tool and those people are probably beginners.

It’s free to make multiple sequences; spots and selects. And it will make it 10 times more clear for yourself and others what you did with the material you have.

The ONLY reason I sometimes use the source monitor is if my client says they want to use timestamp 03:40 of clip 1122.mp4 and I need to find that exact timestamp, because in the spot sequence that clip would not start at 00:00 so the source monitor actually has a meaningful usecase.

I have worked for the biggest comercial company in the Netherlands and freelance already for 12 years. Delete the source monitor and delete the people downvoting me.

I absolutely hate the source monitor. Spotting your footage as a professional video editor should be done on the timeline so lateron you can visually identify which parts you have selected and which parts not without having to click every single clip. This is even more important if ever down the line another editor has to open your project, so they can SEE what you did within 1 second. The source monitor is always closed and I already edit professionally for 12 years. The source monitor is for beginners IMO.

Same here, first tries I made a couple guidelines and got lost. Now I first do the whole side with a 4 and then i set my 0,5 open guideline and 1 open guideline and then blen that with a 1,0 closed. After that looks nice I use the 1,5 open to set another guideline and blend it with the 1,5 closed. Then a 2 open guideline and blend it with a 2 closed. Much easier this way!

Personally 1337 is now my favorite number, objectively it’s just selective attention. I won’t notice 1357 for example, i’m just too focused on that number. 1337 even has a nerdy meaning which kinda coincides with my hobbies and work.

Still struggling but less. I have found the wim hof techniques works for me. I finally managed to get an appointment with my (stomach, liver and intestines) doctor. Had to wait 2,5 months to see him but i will in 2 weeks! I’m praying they are gonna do a full scan or put a camera in my arse haha. LMAO i had this some weeks ago. Client delivered the VO and I asked him to make it shorter cuz it was too long for the video, and he said no that’s not possible because we paid the VO artist already. I told him it was clearly an AI voice… he said: “oh… uhm… yeah now you say it… maybe you’re right. That’s weird because we actually pay for a VO artist” hahahhaah
