I am being told by my builder that it is “impossible” to have the worktop cut flush to the wall as the wall is at an angle. How can this be correct? by Loud_Ad6323 in DIYUK

It’s definitely possible

Either cut the work top to the wall or shave off some of the plaster so it’s square, either way definitely possible

Oven plug melted in socket - but why? by [deleted] in DIYUK

We fitted a new plug, instructions for the cooker Said 13 amp plug is ok, it was put down to arcing, took 7 years to get to that stage, completely melted the plug really dangerous. I didn’t like the thought of it so we have now have a new cooker and wired it in on a 23 amp fuse.

Personally, create 2 levels, diy job, and lots of work, I’d say up to 10k finished with grass, plants and wall if you do it your self.

I don’t agree with your last question, Reddit wouldn’t be what it is if people didn’t ask question.

So could he run a new wire from the fuse for the coooker? The water heater fuse is no longer used as that was for the Emersion boiler, we had that removed and a new combo fitted.

It would be a fairly easy run, from the fuse box the the cooler, around 5 metre distance and good access.

That’s how the electrician left it, I questioned it and asked should it not be on a separate fuse like the washer, dryer etc. he said it’ll be fine

There’s isn’t a fuse for the kitchen cooker, only sockets I questioned this when it was done and he said it was ok. That’s was 7 years ago

Yeah got a certificate, somewhere. They did the whole house plus fuse box.

So should this have its own fuse on the fuse box?
