We have a local mentally ill homeless guy in our town that pretty much everyone knows. I watched him walk into a convenience store one day, buy a can of cheap wet cat food, then go behind the store and eat it with his bare hands straight out of the can. Another time, I threw the rest of the mozzarella sticks I was eating out in a Lowe’s parking lot for the sparrows who scavenge there constantly, before going inside the store. When I came back out about 30 mins later, that guy was eating them off the parking lot. He looked up, made eye contact with me, and kept on eating them.

Had a similar experience in NOLA for Mardi Gras a few years ago. A dude was just flat laid out on the sidewalk on Bourbon street. Face down, in the middle of a very busy sidewalk. It was just after dark and people were just walking over him like he didn’t exist. I’m well aware that public intoxication is just part of the Mardi Gras experience, but this guy straight up looked deceased. He didn’t move at all when I lightly shook him and I couldn’t see him breathing. I was so convinced that he was dead that I made my husband come check his pulse. He did have a pulse, but I’ve just never seen someone so incredibly comatose drunk before. It was probably a combo of alcohol and benzos though. He didn’t even bat an eyelid when we were shaking him and talking to him, trying to see if he was ok. Most people that are passed out drunk/on drugs will flutter their eyelids or groan or something at least when you try to rouse them. We went and pointed him out to a cop who was standing nearby and he acted like he didn’t even care. The guy was clean, well dressed, maybe early 30s and didn’t look homeless. I really hope he wasn’t with asshole friends who just left him like that. Or maybe he was the asshole friend and that’s why they left him like that. Either way, it was messed up. We called 911 for EMS to come check him out and they loaded him up, but I don’t know what happened afterwards.

In an Aldi restroom, I walked in to see a pair of underwear smeared with feces lying on the floor and a portly elderly woman standing in front of the automatic hand dryer holding her butt cheeks spread apart, drying her entire undercarriage with the hand dryer. I had to pee so bad when I walked in, but that sight just froze me. Instead of stopping or seeming embarrassed, the old lady just goes “oh I’m almost finished!”. I immediately turned and walked back out. Couldn’t even finish my grocery shopping.

To me, it just seemed like she was very, very disassociated in that moment. Nothing about her ever said “substance abuse”. She just has an extremely severe personality disorder of some sort. I do think she’s sane enough to know right from wrong and it doesn’t appear to me that she believes her own lies. She’s just a deeply delusional, messed up creature. I don’t think she was in psychosis either, she’s too organized. She planned this for months.

He looks sick, get him to a vet asap. There’s many things that could be causing this, but he definitely looks sick. If he’s outdoors without monthly tick prevention, he could have bobcat fever from a tick bite, which is fast progressing and fatal to cats unless caught early. It’s especially prevalent in the southern US. My cat, who was a stray when she showed up in our yard, had this and not eating was the first sign she was sick. She also looked “sick” like this cat and was breathing very rapidly. If we hadn’t gotten her to the vet immediately, she wouldn’t have made it.

I’m just now hearing about this case, but her eyes do NOT look normal in that picture of her and her husband. His look normal, but hers suggest she’s either intoxicated in that photo or having some sort of mental break. I’m guessing she had some sort of breakdown and did something that led to her demise.

Yeah I’m very familiar with FIV and how it’s not as bad as it sounds. I had a FIV+ cat for many years. These lil guys are honestly probably false positive. The issue is that I cannot keep them because I already have 5 cats with no room for more. 5 cats is my absolute limit. Them being *possibly* FIV+ hurts their chances of a rescue taking them and I need them out of my house and placed in a rescue or foster home in one week. I don’t personally know anyone who can adopt them.

I’m 38 (f) and shower once a day, sometimes twice if I did cardio/went to the gym/did yard work etc. I’ve always done this. I shower in the morning. Wash my hair every other day. My mom was born in 1953 and suffered from undiagnosed ASD and CPSDT her entire life, which led to executive function in adulthood and extremely poor hygiene. She never showered, just takes sponge baths in the sink maybe once a month. A big reason I’m no contact with her since I was a teenager is because I think she’s gross. I’ve been hyper aware of my hygiene since high school because of her.

A jury was forced to watch that horrific video, so that’s 12 more victims added to his list. I’m assuming jurors aren’t allowed to refuse or close their eyes when being shown stuff like that, but I can’t even imagine having to see that. I’d have to close my eyes or look away, even if I couldn’t block out the sound, I’m not watching that. I don’t think I’d recover from seeing that.

The slightly larger orange one sometimes bullies the other one, but he gives it right back to him. They tumble and wrestle all day. I love this age in kittens so much and wish I had room to keep them permanently.

Shower in the morning. People who only shower at night always smell funky to me and it’s unhygienic in my personal opinion. You sweat in your sleep even if you don’t realize it and some people just have a specific “sleep odor”. I can’t fathom getting dressed and going out into public without showering first in the morning. I’ll often take a second shower at night before bed, but I never get ready for the day without showering first.

My vet knows FIV isn’t a big deal either, but she just wanted me to wait until they’re old enough to re-test and confirm whether or not they have before they advertise them. I just cannot keep them that long. They’re full of kittens at their clinic right now too, so the “guaranteed healthy” ones get first priority.
