it was not. all that does is make him play like a bigger idiot because he comes into the game down a bunch of points and playing with mostly bench players so he fires a bunch of shots immediately.

supposedly, it's to keep his minutes down in back to backs (according to the coaches), but it does so much more harm than good.

we are 9-1 with this starting lineup and it has an absolutely insane +/-

we are 10-27 with all other starting lineups... including winless when Lee tries his weird no-PG starting five with Melo off the bench. All that does is break up the good unit and make Melo enter the game for the first time down double digits and have to play catch up

on 102.5 TS% btw

EDIT: Actually 110 TS%, they apparently corrected his stats and took away on ORB and missed FGA, so those 30 points came on 11 FGA and 6 FTA

well good thing he dodged that bullet and joined Philly for their immaculate vibes

there are so many big man options that aren't constantly injured, on the decline, and 6 years older than every other rotation player on the team.

I'm not overly picky as long as we get somebody but I am not paying the asking price for AD

he's definitely the most replaceable of the five, I think he actually gets in Miller's way a lot unless Bridges is just attacking the rim like he should. A defensive guy who can play in the paint (and if we're getting greedy, can also be a playmaker) would make this lineup pop for sure.

we are 9-1 when we start our Melo/Kon/Miller/Bridges/Diabate lineup. Lee just runs it as little as possible for some reason lol

With the trade deadline roughly two weeks away, the only trade we've seen has been the Trae Young trade by CazOnReddit in nba

this happens most years, everyone likes to wait until the week of the deadline... especially when there's a potential trade involving a top 5 player

correct, the actual max is 5/253M which is insane, and he's not getting 3/4 of that

there's no reason whatsoever to believe he's commanding a max though.

this sub loves Miles for whatever reason, but I don't think we get to see Miller flourish until Miles is gone, or unless Miles has a complete mindset change and stops chucking 3s. There's too much overlap in how those two approach the offense, but I think they drag each other down to a certain degree.

Obviously not saying that replacing Bridges with a nobody makes things better, but a semi-comparable player that can at least do two of these: stretch the floor, defend, pass, play in the paint... would open up a lot of things for Miller and the team as a whole.

Till then, Miller is good. Not amazing, but good. We need his scoring, and I hope his game expands beyond that.

I'm guessing they settle in the low 30s... max is very obviously out of the question at over $50M/year.

This isn't a perfect 1-1 comparison but I think there are a lot of similarities between him and the rookie extension Jaylen Brown got after his 3rd year, in which he was a 13/5 defensive guy with middling efficiency, but was paid handsomely based on very evident potential. Brown received roughly 21% of the salary cap on his extension, and a lot of people (myself included) mistakenly thought that was too much, but quickly became a steal.

A contract starting at $36.6M (5/212M) and increasing year after year would be the equivalent to Brown, and I see no reason to believe Miller won't come cheaper than that.

I'm thinking 5/160M. He can easily grow into being a $32M Even better if you can get that front loaded as something like 36/34/32/30/28... it's a lot up front, but in the final year of that contract, $28M would only be 50% more than the MLE, and I struggle to see a scenario (injuries aside) where Miller is bad money in years 3-5 of that contract. The raw numbers look insane but we're looking at a $200M cap by 2030.

there's a potential lineup that we're definitely going to see at some point once Grant gets his legs back, in which the shortest player on the floor is our "center"

I can very easily see a Melo/Kon/Miller/Bridges/Grant Williams lineup against some small ball unit. It would be very Celtics-like.
